Car nuts helping car nuts

I can`t say enough about the help I received from an avid contributor of this forum. I ran an ad in the for sale section for a set of Buick finned drums that I had bought for my Deuce that I am building, but due to budget restraints and change of plans, I decided to sell when I found that the sector shaft on my Vega box was bent. I had included this in the text, and received an e-mail from someone claiming to have a box that he would let go cheap. Skeptical I bit and asked "how cheap"...$60,but I would have to cover shipping which would be $10 and he would cover the diff if it cost more. So...off to the bank I go for a us money order which in Canada equals a years salary with the exchange rate! A barage of e-mails and swap of war stories and pictures ensues.I track the parcel across the mid west to Seattle and then to Blaine Wa. Finally yesterday a friend picks up the parcel and calls..."your not going to beleive this...it`s a Flaming River unit"I was floored. We never once talked about manufacturer.I presumed that I was getting your basic Vega unit, but to my surprise!!!Anyways...You know who you are Mike! Thanks once again. If you are ever in the great white north...your welcome to park the Rumbler in my garage!!!

Sounds like a great deal...all around. I saw a 57 Chevy pickup on the side of the road yesterday, with his wife behind him in his newer pickup. I stopped to ask if he needed help. He said that he had just picked up his truck, after having it wired, but was having probs with vapor lock (in the 90's yesterday). He had his electric fan running, and so was the elec. fuel pump. I told him that I could go get him some clothes pins to try, but then he tried it again, and it started. We both commented on the elec. pump being an inch away from the headers. He said that was the first thing he was going to change when he got home, moving it farther forward. I hope he made it home okay.

That's the reason why rodding is so great. Rodders helping rodders. You wouldn't never beleive rodders would be a tight nit group.

You always hear, How much do i owe you. He's says, Just pass it on.

It is amazing how nice most of the Street Rodding crowd is to help others in need . I think that comes from being on the side of the road and noone will even slow down to look at flames (hopefully painted on)I have had real ones to.
Keep it up !!!Bird

Mikey is an awesome guy!! I know that from experience. He's been a bud for a long time. Can't say enough great things about the guy. He was there last night when I needed him and again this morning with his head in Big Olds fixn him for me. Right now I have an alternator on Big Olds that belongs to a guy near George, about 2 hours from my house. He installed at last Wed nite for me when mine went bad on my way to BTTF. Would not take any money for his time, trouble or alt. I will mail it back to him when I get mine rebuilt and hopefully he'll be able to help someone else using if they ever need it. Gives me warm, fuzzy feelings when I hear about one rodder helping another. Thanks for sharing the story of one of our own helping out another.

Your welcome Roger! I have to let you know i kept the good box for myself though. It was all shiney that had Mullins wrote across it. I didn't think it was fair to charge you extra for the dust on the box you received...LOL
