StockCar Racing Experience

Not to bragg,But my wouderful Bride got me the 40 mi super speedway school at 2 1/5 mi. Pocono Super Speedway for Christmas.
I have driven 11 second drag cars and sprotman modified Stock cars 358 cu limit years back on 1/3 and 1/2 mi dirt tracks.
I am here to tell you there is no comparison to the 3200lb 600hp ARCA/NASCAR type cars.
I had two 8 lap sessions folowing an instructor who kept winding the ruber band tighter and tighter as the laps wound down. The second session after talking about you driving style you went back out and realy started to push the roll out of the throttle marks/cones and jumped on it B-4 the green throttle cone in the apex of the corner. EEEEHAAAAAA
at 8200 RPM at the end of the front straight away and just lifting enough not to drop rpm's but just stop PULLING and then dive into the frist turn at 165MPH .

IMHO it's better the SEX . Why because your know you got two more corners at high speed B-4 you do it AGAIN.........

I have jumped out of good airplanes, went fast and quick, but This For me was the BEST. It's almost 24hrs and I am still on a addrelin HIGH...
awesome just awesome

Cool. I'm glad you enjoyed your experience. Give's you a little more respect for the Nascar boys, 'eh? I've heard too many people remark: "They just go around in circles, what's the big deal, looks easy to me." Yea right. Sounds like you had a ball. Congrats!

Maybe Dover in the future? They say the G's you pull with the banks is unreal.

You think Pocono and Dovers a thrill...DAYTONA! I'm here to tell ya. I know of 3 people that went around Daytona 12 laps and they said it put the fear of God in 'em but yet it was fun. If ya can I'd go for it!

Yep......it's additive.....you'll be back for more.

I have done Charlotte, Atlanta and going to do INDY......and getting better everytime out. I had a hard time the very first time keeping the car off the flat berm at Charlotte because it wanted to turn so easily.....really surprising to me even tho I knew that the cars at over 135mph were designed to do such. After a few laps it was easy then to make adjustments.

I highly recommend the Richard Petty Driving Experience to anyone, young, old, male, female, it or what? I do recommend that you do the ride-a-long first to realise and know what the limits of the car are. It gives you some calibration as to what to expect and limits!

Petty did/dose the Nazerath driving school. I had a freind go last year, the top MPH was not near whats attained at the super speedways. He did Pocono and told me there as a nite and day diference. of going fast for a few seconds as compaired going real fast for a long time.
I agree 1000%. Go for the ride frist. The driver who did my ride comes from the ARCCA series. and pused the car in 3 laps to his estmation 90% of it's capability. He was well over 9grand at the end of the straitaway and only lifted to set the car then and also to entering the tunnel turn.
I almost needed some WET WIPES.
It builds confidence in what the car can do, and your not going to be pushing near that hard.

what also impressed me about Pocono is it's unique-ness.
meaning three desentive turns both in total radius and degree of banking.

I say to all who will listen. Just do-it, strap in and Do-it.

Congratulations Ray. Feels good to be the lead dog ?
roger on the dirt my frist love. you can relate, I wanted to SET the car and throw it to the right as I neared the turn. Old habits had hard to over come. heeeee
but let me reitarate. The G forced on you body in the Hutcheson seat when you drop in the apex is phenomal.
not like clay/dirt where you lerched and bounced through the turn. even when you hooked up on dirt your forward bite is a percentage of your tire spin where as on theses macadam cars, it's all suck you into the back of your seat accelaration. I can still feel my brains floped over on the right inside of my skull !!!!!

In my younger days, just after the dinosaurs died, I was a dirt track racer on a 1/2 mile track. There's nothing like doing 80+ sideways. Wish I could play on tar,,,,,just once. Dave

Glad to hear that you enjoyed it, Wayne. We do it here in Charlotte every day. Why just this morning, I blew Jr. away, smoked Jarrett and Rudd and dusted the Labontte bros... on I-85.
