A local Ford dealer had an auction Sunday, selling the left overs in his old building before they tore it down. I bought a fiberglas bed cover from an '01 Ranger for my '99. The price was right ($10.00), but the color is wrong. My color is Autumn Orange metallic. What is the best type paint to use, and would I have to add a flex agent? Thanks in advance.

Any good brand of urethane. No flex needed

I agree with Eric, urathane is the best paint for this application.
Phil, while you have a color picked out I will still add to your post. Four years ago I was selling a 1980 Chev. pickup that I restored 5 years earlier. While it had minimum wear I wanted to add to it for a quicker sale and hopefully raise the asking price. Then one day I bought a $25 Lear cap that was painted a most horrible blue and a tab rough. How to put a good paint on it, low luster like most older original caps?
What I did was paint it grey urethane high build primer with no top coat. It looked super for $50 worth of materials and the truck sold shortly after.
Had it been more solid and I was keeping it, I would start with the same primer and topcoat it with 2 part urethane. Some of the metallic colors are super to use.

Thanks for the info Larry. I've got next week off, and will see if I can fit it in for a paint job. Will have to go see a friend of mine that works for a paint store, and see what he can dig up for me.

Just another thought Phil, You may want to try and find out what color primer they used on your Ranger, I think the color you are describing is one of the ones they reccomend tinting the primer on. The top coat is semi transparent. Also I imagine the color on the bed cover is the gelcoat, make sure you have it all sanded till dull or it will peel on you.
