leaky water pump

It's been awhile since I posted anything, although I do drop in from time to time to read some post, I'm pretty busy working on the rod. Well here goes, I've just put a new water pump on my 351w, there's one bolt that goes threw the water pump, threw the timing chain cover into the block (water jacket)and I cannot get it from leaking around the head of the bolt. I tried blue goo, black goo, form-a-gasket, and last but not least plumpers dope, (new bolt),nothing has helped, Any advise would surely be grateful. Welding it is an option, just kidding. Next time I'll buy a chevy and put it in the Ford.

The pump to housing gasket may be split by the bolt, re-check it and put thread sealant on all the bolts. The Chevy idea isn`t a bad one....lol

Is the new bolt the exact length of the original one? If it's a bit too long it may be bottoming out. You might also try re-tapping the hole just in case it's bottoming out on some crud in the hole.

I'm not a Ford guy, but this might be the problem.

Hope this helps.

You might try a flat washer and make a gasket for under it.

they used two styles of gaskets on the 351 so you need to check that out if the wrong one is installed it will leak
