Overspray; I did exactly what you want to do. Took 18 ga. SS bent it into rectangular box. bend the end caps into 3/8" to 1/2" high trays install into main tank [backwards] then its easy to seal weld [TIG] ends need very little if any filler. go to junkyard chisel out late model GM sending ,fuel pump, snap ring bayonet fitting etc. weld it into new tank. now you have float, sending unit, fuel pump, pickup, vent fitting, and rollover check valve all in one unit.
