Power Tour dates and venues
by hotrodladycrusr

Here's a list of where the Power Tour will be stopping each day. What I'm looking for, from you guys, is a great place to eat in each city. I'm one of the founders of the Hot Rod Power Tour Club on Yahoo, and we're trying to plan a few things in advance as oppose to sending out "scouts" once we get there to look for places to eat as a group. A great BBQ place or nice burger place is what we usually have in mind. Doesn't have to be fancy, just good food with available seating for approx 30 people without much hassle. Plus have to have decent parking area for the cars. Any ideas?

I would also like to exchange cell numbers with those of you who will be coming to the different venues. E-mail me your number and I'll reply with mine.

Fri May 24th Lincoln, NE Speedway Motors

Sat May 25th Kansas City, MO Arrowhead Stadium

Sun May 26th St Louis, MO West Port Plaza

Mon May 27th Louisville, KY KY Fairgrounds

Tue May 28th Columbus, OH National Trail Raceway

Wed May 29th Pontiac, MI Phoenix Center and my place :)

Thr May 30th Youngstown, OH Canfield Fairgrounds

Looking forward to meeting alot of you. ONE WEEK from today I'm off!!! :))

Denise,

We have Famous Dave's here (of course you know about that one cause your state is his home place) which is in a mall area so there is plenty of parking. Another BBQ place called Skeeter Barnes where they serve the ribs NAKED. No not the waitress ED, the meat is served without sauce and you add your own. Skeeters take reservations. They also have lots of parking since it's located in an area where there are commercial buildings around so there is extra parking. Then accross the street is Lazo's which is another good place with burgers and good food. The Sonic does not have an eat in area just the drive up stations. Usually a large crowd there if the weather is nice. One week from tomorrow. I'd tell the grandkids 8 more nap times and we will see you. So I guess 8 more nap times and we will meet you.

You've got my cell number now, call me when you get to Speedy Bills and we'll hook up. Really looking forward to checking out your 34 and showing you Big Olds. Dinner at Famous Daves sounds great, but then so do the other places. Which one would you choose if you only had one night for dinner there? Do you have an addresses or street names so I can pass it along to others in my group? Less then one week before I leave!! See ya soon :))

Denise,

Famous Daves is at So 27th and Pine Lake Road on the Northeast Corner. Skeeter Barnes (5600 South 58th) is about a block east of 56th and Old Cheney Road. Both are major intersections in the south part of town. The Sonic (5601 South 48th) is in the south part of town also at South 48th and Hyw 2 one block south of the intersection on the west side. I like them both. Usually they are really busy on Friday nights. Skeeters might be able to set up a party room for your group of 30. Their # is 402-421-3340.

Where will you be staying in St. Louis? The West Port area is a ways north of me but I will try and get some eatin places up in that area. I know that about a mile south there is all kinds of eats - Fuddrukers, TGI Fridays, and some others. Looking forward to see you guys and gals there.

Greg, The "offical" from St Louis to L'ville has the tourer going to Mid America in Effingham for lunch. the route is as follows:

Route 270 east to Route 70 east to exit 162, 45 nNorth/Sigel. Turn right (north) at bottom of exit. Go straight thru first stoplite (Rickelman Ave) and Mid America Direct is 1.4 miles on right. Exit parking lot, turn left (45 south). Turn right on Fayette Ave. Left on Banker St. Follow 45 south; take left at stop sign (junction of 50). Follow 45 south; turn right at stop sign for Fairfield. Continue to follow 45 south, route jogs, follow signs, be alert. 45 south to 64 east/Evansville. Follow signs for New Albany/Louisville, route 64. Go over Sherman Minton Bridge (ohio River). Follow route 64 east to sign for Lexington/Louisville. Take exit 5/route 65 toward Indianapolis/Nashville. Go South toward Nashville. Take exit 132 Crittenden Dr; Fair/Exposition Center. Follow signs to the Prestonia Lot.

Needless to say thatsa long way out of the way to go for a free lunch, especially considering we stopped there last year. So my thoughts are, been there, done that, got the t-shirt, no need to return. Lots feel the same way and we will be heading directly across on I64 stopping for a nice lunch somewhere along the way, getting to L'ville, checking in to motels and then hitting hte fairgrounds. A very relaxing day. And we'll beat the masses there. Are you somewhere along this route? Let me know and maybe I can give you a time frame either for the "offical" route or our "unoffical" one. Maybe you could join us for lunch. :)

Thank you, I need all the help I can get. Was very cold here all weekend and today also. In the 30's and mid 40's for high. I'm not a happy camper about that although I did get the trans cooler moved to the front of Big Olds in the grill area. Also did ss lines. Hopefully nothing will hit it now and the lines will stay on! LOL So I guess I can't complain. I have no worries that Big Olds might not make it now. If anyone/anything is going to fail it will be me. :)) I'll be thinking about you when I hit I69 and instead of turning south I continue to head west. Sure you won't change your mind about going? :))

Along I-64,right before you cross into Indiana, there is a Best Western there that has a fairly nice restaraunt in it.Food is pretty good and the prices are fair.I'm about 15 miles north of there and have a good friend who lives real close to the hotel.Let me know about the times and I'll see if I can make it down. The hotel also has OTB for any who like to gamble.I live in Albion, which is 16 miles east of Fairfield.

Would that be in Greyville? Seems to me that we should be there around lunch time. Looks to be about 2 hours from St Louis to the boarder. Care to join us for a bite to eat. Is there another choice in the area beside a Best Western? Like my a Fridays or Fudruckers or something alittle less fancy but not fast food? I could call you when we pass thru Mt Vernon, and then you'd have a better idea of time.

Grayville is a town of about 1800,there is one small local restaraunt in town.Parking isn't great, food is pretty good. The Best Western really isn't that fancy and has PLENTY of parking. If your looking for more of a variety in food places, probably have to stop in Mt Vernon,Il. or Evansville,In.I can make it without any trouble Sunday.

I'm actually staying at the Comfort Inn in O'Fallon, IL (1100 Eastgate Dr) cuz it's near a good buddy's place who's having a party after the festivities at West Port Plaza. I actually have a room reserved at the Super 8 off I270, exit 30 in St Louis that I've had for awhile and I'll probley keep it till the last minute incase plans change. You know how women are, we have the right to change our minds at any time. Two rooms are better then none. :))
You've got my cell number, right? Call me when you get to the venue on Sunday and if you don't bring the baby at least bring a picture of her, ok? See ya then
