New guy needs help.

OK, I've been lurking for about a year now and have enjoyed all that I've learned from you already. But now I need some specific help. We are building our first streetrod in our garage. It's a 36 Ford Tudor that we call 36 Vicky (or Vicky for short). I know Henry didn't call her Vicky after '34, but he could have (should have). He called her Tudor, how Victorian can you get? She just has a smoother bustle than her older sisters. Our Vicky has the heart and soul of a '98 Crown Vic, a 4.6L SOHC w/4R70W. She's going to need a little "nose job" before she's ready for her coming out, but we'll get to that later. My most immediate challenge is connecting the power steering. I have a rebuilt rack from NAPA (2-203F) and a pressure hose from an '82 Maverick that fits the rack. I have a new pressure hose from Ford that fits the power steering pump on one end but doesn't fit the rack on the other end. What's the best way to connect/splice these two hoses together? Will a double ended barbed fitting hold the pressure? I have not been able to find a female to female pressure fitting that can be crimped on to connect the two hose pieces. Thanks in advance far any comments.

Hi Tom!! I would think any parts house that makes up hoses can help you out. We have an implement dealer here in Dunlap that makes hydralic and power steering hoses and can make just about any hose ya want. He's made them for our 1 ton fast attach truck and another Chevy firetruck with no problems, so check out the parts houses and maybe tractor supply. Hope this helps. Bill

Welcome to the fray.

Most NAPA stores will make you custom hoses for just about any thing you can think of. We advise our customers of Concept ONe pulleys and brackets to go to NAPA to finalise their power steering hook up with custom hoses.

Tom- Welcome! In your neck of the woods there's got to be a farm equipment dealer/parts house. They should be able to make (or tell you where you can get one made) the hose with the fittings you're looking for. Good luck!

Don Cain at KC Streetrod Parts hooked me up with a steel braided line to mate my chvey power steering pump to my Mustang II rack. Little pricy but fits and looks great.
