Put the new PRC vertical radiator in on Saturday and drove the car home today about 220 miles. In 90 degree ambient with the A/C on it never got oevr 170 sitting in traffic. On the highway, it ran 150-160 degrees.Running a high capacity Mr. Gasket 160 degree thermostat.
I love it. Don't have to worry about overheating anymore.

The only bad thing is for those who like to argue about PRC`s quality.....They can`t!

Good to hear that radiator is so efficient. You might want to change your thermostat as those 150-160 degree engine temperatures are too low for efficiency. I'd shoot for 180 degrees, myself.

Yeah Lynn, but you don't have to live with Texas summers. As I said, with the a/c on and 90 degrees out it ran 170-180. When the temp gets up to 100 it'll be fine I think. LAst summer I was running between 200-250 degrees in summer heat.

Just a idea....... I do NOT CLAIM to be a cooling expert but if the cooling temps ran 170-180 with the a/c and 90 outside......the themostat was open and the coolant just was flowing all the time. Why not TRY a 180 and see if it would run 180 all the time?
I run a 195 high flow Robert Shaw themostat in mine and it NEVER gets past 195. GM puts a 195 in all new ZZ4 crate engines and most New GM vechicles.
I too live in the hot, humid south (SC) and no problems ever with overheating.
JUST A SUGGESTION ! Not trying to start a war.........

Fred, Lynn is right on with the recommendation of the higher thermostat. A 180ish will make the engine run more efficiently and the lubricants work better as well.
CHANGING YOUR THERMOSTAT FROM A 160 TO A 180 DOES NOT CHANGE THE CAPACITY OF THE SYSTEM TO COOL ANY BETTER OR WORSE. If your temperature gauge reads 185 with a 160 thermostat, it will read 185 with a 180 thermostat, given the very same set of conditions. The cooler thermostat will just open sooner...that's all. I think this was Deuce's point as well.
