Hi,
Still working on the 56 chevy.
We are going to run a 5 speed out of a 1986 camaro, but the shifter is sooooo far back on the trany, now I was told you can get a trany out of an S-10 and swap out the tail housings and it will put the shifter a few inches forward.
has anyone did this? or is it just a wish?
Please help if you can
Russ&Irene

Is it the Jeep that has the shifter the most foreward?

Russ Yep thats what you have to do. Get a rear housing off a s-10 t-5 box and the shifter is much father ahead. Got one in my rod and love it. Was not to hard to do.When your doing it make sure your box has a speedo gear(some were electric)cause now is the time to put the gear on the tail shaft when you have it apart.
