Could be the whine of one of Georgia's Finest and his siren?Bill ..... why have the STREET ROD GODS decided to pick on you? 1st the windshield, then the fender, Now the rear end?? You need to give the preacher a few more dollars on Sunday when they pass the plate. On a more serious note, the pinion bearing has a crush sleeve and it must be properly set to eliminate noise. Look at the seal and see if it is wet with gear lube. See if the pinion feels loose or the nut has worked loose. I doubt that the bearing is the source of the whine because it makes noise at 70 mph plus.If loose or not properly set most are noisy in all ranges. Could be. Check it to prevent damage if it is loose. If the nut has backed off, the lash between the ring and pinion will change and damage the gear and it will make noise. Randy
