Okay ... I've already got a 700r4 in my hiboy (pretty hot sb 350) ... but oh I do miss the old days when I could smack into 2nd and 3rd and leave a black streak on the pavement. Now I just get a little chirp. So whaddaya thinK ... should I put in a stick? And if so, which one??

I have a 400 turbo in my Roadster but have a 700R4 set up to go in the 40. My friends reccommed a Corvette servo and a shift kit. Theirs leave a patch of black in 2nd and a good chirp in 3rd with 8-9 inch tires. Randy

Given the amount of foot room and the short amount of leg space in a '32 Ford, I would not even consider having to use a clutch. I like manual transmissions as well, but comfort and practicality won out with me so I am using a 700R4 rebuilt with Corvette servo and extra clutches. It could be that your automatic and rear gear combo is very good at putting the power to the pavement, thus only minimal rubber marks. BTW--that is an awesome looking ride!

Hey......Doooooooooooce......if you decide that you want a Muncie 4 speed, let me know. I would be amicable to swapping for your 700R4.

It was pedal room that dictated the use of a automatic in my 35 Ford PU. Start there, then do what makes you happy!

A lot of guys dont like that big gap between 1 and 2 on the 700R4 however Im still planning to use one on a blown flathead. Id consider an AOD but just keep hearing horror stories about setup and reliability.
The C4 is supposedly the most efficient of the basic factory offerings as far as HP robbing.
YET, I can leave some serious 2nd gear rubber with a TH400 in a 68 396 Impala and that is a 4200 lb tank.
If all else fails just get a built powerglide.
