Well I just got home from 6 hours down at the Autorama. One word to describe it, AWESOME!! In the 25 years that I have been attending, I don't think the awesome caliber of cars has ever reached this high. The $800,000 plus rod is breathtaking. It's a Foose built 35 Chevy. I really don't think I can justify its beauty with words. I really feel sorry for the other Riddler contenders. Their hard word really shows but I'll make my prediction here and now, the 35 Chevy will walk away with it hands down.
There are many past Riddler winners on display and lots of famous, old rods also. Tried to take a photo of almost everything interesting, 98 so far. Tonight wasn't open to the general public so it was easy to take great shots, no peoples heads or arms in the shots.
Caught up with Big Al and chatted for a few. The Barris display is in the very back on the far left side, very near Troy Traniers Cad Attack. Neither car is hard to miss. See ya tomorrow night at 6pm by George's car. :)

The Foose car is a 35 Master. Beauty, but it probably won't drive too well with the chrome brake rotors and so on. Not really a car, just an expensive statue.

If Bob Rydell was asking only $200,000 for this work of art, there'd be hundreds in line behind me. Just reading about it today and listening to what was being said around, there's well over 1000 body mods. No, it's not an everyday driver, wasn't meant for that. It was built to look at and admire. Nothing wrong with that. Had a huge crowd around it all day long. One thing I've got to say is that Chip, Sam and about a dozen others that are involved in the rod are very approachable. They are all standing around ready to answer questions, they have photo albums of the build up process, willing and eager to show anyone thats interested.
I've only posted this one photo tonite. Scanning and uploading is a pain and I'm exhusted. Hitting the hay. Debb will be here first thing in the morning. George (purplepickup) took alot of photos today with his digital. Maybe he'll get a chance to post his either tonight or in the morning. I'll get to mine either tomorrow nite, (yeah, right) or Sunday nite (most likely) LOL

This year's Autorama was the best I've seen in years. Too bad I didn't run into any of you - I did meet Enjenjo and FatCat there. The rumor mill was saying that 35 Chevy had more than $800,000 dollars in it! Great looking car, but wow!

Well I just read up on this sharing of photos on AOL. I guess it's not as easy as I had thought it would be. I have to list all the email addresses of those that I want to share them with. I'll gather up everyones email addys that have shown an interest and send you the "invitation " I guess. I would send them to Jason to make a slideshow here, but looks like he's got a 5 month backlog! LOL (He still has some cool Turkey Rod Runs to post)
Probley won't get to that email thingy tonight. Got to study for huge exam tomorrow and I'm behind schedule cuz I played all weekend!! Well worth it though.
Deb, that one photo of you, me and Liz on Sat nite didn't turn out that great, Rob's thumb was in it. Can you send me your copy and I'll post it?
Liz, thought you'd get a kick out of this photo of me and "your" Normie Poo!!!

Skip, the name sounds fimiliar, like I saw it on a placecard but I can't say for sure. If I see the roadster I will stop and say hi from you. Liz didn't get on the flight she was suppose to so was late arriving in Detroit. Hooked up with her finally after dinner for awhile but didn't have the engery to make it a late night tonight. Met her buddy Mickey for the first time and will be catching back up with them in the morning. :)

Hey everybody, I just had to say that this edition of the Detroit Autorama, as Mike has already said, is the best show I've seen in many years. I had a chance to meet some of the SRS gang, Liz, George, Big Al, Phatrat. I shook hands and talked to Blackie Gegajian, one of the pioneers, and as the pictures attest, George Barris, and Vic Edelbrock. The number and quality of cars present was absolutely mind-bogling and not just the "Contenders" . We walked in the door at noon, took a break for some beer and burgers with Denise and George(Purple pickup)about 6:30, left the show at about 11:00PM and covered about 80% of the show. If you couldn't make it I'm sorry, but put it on your schedule for next year. It was Great.
