Help, Does anybody have experiance using a Dynabatt battery? I can't find a vendor and can't find them on the internet. I'm redoing the interior (like it will ever be done!) and need a small, maybe sideways battery. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Woody

I've used a Optima battery from www.speedwaymotors.com ! And I really like them and will use one in my 36 when I'm done and ready to put it on the road!

There was an article in one of the rod magazines a while back, they used 2 Optima 6 volt batteries hooked together. One on each side of the trunk. These batteries can be put in any position, vertical, horizontal, etc. Great idea for tight places.

I got Optimas in my 61 Dodge, 2000 Silverado and had one in our 2000 Impala that I forgot to remove before trading the close to POS off.
I thought Interstate bought Optima or versa vicy, other way around???

I read a couple of posts about the Dynabatt dry cell battery a couple of months back. I also contacted the distributer for information. The only downside to them is if you have an engine problem and need to crank it over a lot. They don't have the reserve energy a regular battery has. But from all the information I have gathered, they work quite well. I am considering one for my ride when the time comes.

Hey lynn,.....I don't know what Dynabatt is using in their technology...but the Optima deep cycle, is actually better at cranking reserves.
Here is a list of features....and no I don't sell them, I just think that they are superior technology, but at a cost.
-Far higher power at cold and hot temperatures
-Up to twice the life of other batteries
-3 times the charge holding period of other batteries
-15 times! more shock resistant than other batteries
-Nonspillable and leakproof, even if punctured
-More-constant voltage output across discharge curve
-Lower internal resistance makes more power, less heat
-Noncorrosive: Nonventing in normal use
-Mountable in any position
Just my usual science dribble.

Thanks, Steve. I want to place the battery under the frame rather than in the trunk since the trunk will have an automatic opener. And with the gas tank behind the seat, there is limited trunk space. I think I can make an Optima fit, but the Dynabatt would be no problem at all. I would prefer the Optima, though, due to its cranking power.

Lynn they are pricey but for the money you can't go wrong! When I buy the next one it will be my 4th and I'm very happy with the results of the Optima!

Hey Lynn,
I just installed an Optima battery
under the bed of my truck (38 Chevy) between the
dual exhaust pipes. I bought a racing
battery box from Afcoracing.com
Was a real easy install. Battery is
sitting on its side.Nice and solid
installation.Hope this helps.

Regardless of manufacturer....becarefull with your charging system protection on dry/sealed cell batteries like Optima!
The "look-in" charging impedance of these batteries is lower than that of lead-acid batteries to the extent that when sufficiently discharged, can bring your alternator to full tilt when trying to recouperate causing fusible link issues and fuse issues as well. Make sure that your fusible links are in tip top shape and sized right to the alternator max output ability or you will find out one day when your battery goes down (because you left your lights on overnight etc) that you start it up and all of a sudden the whole system crashes! 00ooooooops. Then it's find a fusible link time!
Just my usual science dribble!

I PUT A DYNA BATT IN MY 32 AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH IT. THE ONLY THING I DID'T LIKE IS THE PRICE. ITS SMALL AND LIGHT, BUT BIG COIN. AT WORLD OF WHEELS IN CHICAGO I SAW A BATTERY GUY THAT HAD SMALL BATTERIES JUST LIKE THEM. I ASKED WHAT THEY WERE FOR AND HE TOLD ME THEY REPLACED THOSE $50 PORTABLE BATTERY JUMP START KIT BATTERIES... HMMMM... I SAID TO MYSELF. BET YA THAT WOULD WORK FINE. THEY ARE BOTH DRY CELL BATTS. THE REPLCEMENT WAS $45 THE JUMP START KIT WAS $50 THE DYNABATT IS $150 I THINK I'LL TRY THE $45 BATTERY NEXT TIME.
