what time is it, anyway???

Here's the scoop, I have a '40 Buick Super sport coupe street rod with AutoMeter Phantom gauges replacing the originals. I also had the 6V clock, which is located in the glove box door, upgraded to 12V and refinished to match the Phantom gauges a couple of years ago. Since that time, I have unhooked the clock because the wires to it were really troublesome due to the location of the clock. My BIG QUESTION: does anyone know of a company that can convert the electric 12V clock to a penlight or AA battery source, maybe even a watch type battery powered clock? I am not interested in making the present clock operable, only using my present face and glass cover, the inside operating mechanisim can be made by whomever or whatever, as long as I get rid of the wires and have a working clock. I talked to the folks who had converted the clock previously, they told me they did not do quartz conversions and did not have any recommendations of who could do it. With this response, I leave you with as many details as I know, and will appreciate any help you can give me...thanks..PACO, Texarkana, Arkansas

Paco
Most craft stores, hobby shops carry the clock mechanism you are talking about. I have even seen them in Wal-Mart. I think you could do it yourself without mucch difficulty.

Might give these guys a try. I've bought from them in the past, but not for a car.
