If you are running rear coil-over shocks, how much space do you allow between the top of axel and the bottom of the frame? My frame is not C'd, and I need to know if I should do so. Thanks.

If you do not have it painted yet, by all means 'C'the frame. When my frame was done back in the dark ages, I did not want to cut a original 1932 frame so I used the stock rubber pads. My previous 32 Highboy roadster sat slightly higher and had never hit.
My 32 sits fairly low and has 29" tall tires. It has 1 and 1/2 to 2 inches clearance between the 9 inch rear and the frame rails. It bumps the rubber stops every now and then. Got to have my wife and I in the car and be a big bump for it to hit. The roadster rides on coil springs not coilovers but the results would be the same. I run the lightest Vega rear spring that GM made to get a good ride. My 32 is all steel and full fendered so the weight may vary from yours.

I'm running a 30 Roadster full fendered and I have about the same clearance as deuce does with coil overs rated at 250 lbs. I did not C the frame either and if I hit a big bump I think it hits but the deck lid in the rumble seat position bangs as well (no latch) so hard to tell if it bottoms out or not. With the wife and I in it the ride is pretty good and I run 29 in' tires as well and going to 31's soon and I run very low tire pressure 25 lbs or so.

I have almost 3 inches of clearance on my deuce. Have coilovers all around. No problems yet with bottoming. Hardly any movement. Tires are at 16 lbs in the rear.

I try to set the ideal height as a 2x4 setting between the axle and the frame, but I always C-notch them also.

I have two inches between the housing and the frame rail so I think I had better C-notch the frame just to be on the safe side. Thanks everyone.
