A bit confusing

Here is a '54 Chevy wagon on ebay, but the front end looks like a '53, and the taillights are '54. Were the taillights changed, or is this something that GM did? Hey Tony...here's a parts car for you.

Phil
I don't recall Chevy ever doing anything like that. I believe the 53/54 tailights are interchangable, but if it is titled as a 54, my guess is thet sometime during it's lifetime someone has changed the front clip for whatever reason. Just a guess

I believe 53 and 54 Tailights are different....... at least on passenger cars. Maybe wagons are the same but cars are different. To verify this go to 50sDream BIO and look at the tailights on the 4 door 53 shown at the bottom.

RANDY.....not a 53 or 54 owner......

perhaps the word interchangable is confusing. I believe although they are different designs the 1954 Chevrolet tailights will bolt onto the 1953 Chevrolet quarter panels.

That wagon is actually a very cool looking car. If someone had a family and wanted a cool looking rod to take the whole family, and all the stuff that families bring with them to rod runs, that might be the ticket.

Okay Denise, now is your chance to buy it and convert it into a four door wagon convertible. LOL.

No way! I might be tempted to fill it up with kids and the stuff that goes along with the kids like strollers and diaper bags!

Although, it would look great with me, Debb and Liz cruzn topless with a bunch of dudes in it! How many Dipstickers do you think we might be able to get in it? Might be fun to try it. :))

From what I remember, 53 and 54 Chev are the same except for the tail lights and the emblem on the hood and trunk. Hubcaps were also different.

Grille was different also. Went all the way across and had five teeth. Was used in a lot of customs back in the 50's and still are if you can find one in good shape.

Right you are, that also made the grill openings in the fenders different. Headlight doors were larger on the 54 also.

The grille and taillights were always the most noticeable for me.

If you mean what I know you mean........ I'm still glad I'm a 32 guy ( big headlights and curvey bumpers ) instead of a 53 - 54 Chevy man.
