Saw this photo on another site and thought you guys might like it as much as I do. One of the coolest hot rod shots I've seen in a long time. :)

This will probably appeal to you Denise...there is a cruise being organised here for rods all over Oz to cruise to Alice Springs to culminate in one big bash (party). For those who don't know where the hell that is..its smack dab in the centre of Oz, so I suspect some of the terrian will be similar to that picture.....I don't think I've ever seen a pic of a rod in front of Ayres rock at sunset....Hmmm I wonder what dates this will happen...I might try and do it:-)

Your posts/replys always bring back such awesome memories of my trips there. I loved the Alice Springs area. Not only did I climb to the top of Ayers Rock but spent a day climing in the Olgas too. Also visited in the area Simpsons Gap, Standley Chasm, Ellery Creek Big Hole Nature Park, and Serpentine Gorge Nature Park. The photo above was taking while I was climbing to the top of the Rock. For those that aren't fimiliar with the area, Ayers Rock is a huge mamouth rock that's a few miles around the base and approx a mile climb to the top at a 45 degree angle. You climb hand over hand hanging onto a chain. Not an easy task. There is no elevator! LOL They say only 1/3 of the rock is abouve ground. Suppose to the the largest rock in the world. A very cool place.

An Americruz type of cruz where everyone converges on the place would be really great. Keep me up to date on any info that you find out about it. Maybe it will be a yearly event and will take place around the time of the Nationals. I'll be there for the Nats in 2005.

Grant, I got that photo from another site, it's not mine but anything on the net is far game for anyone else to copy and keep if they want. It's the nature of the beast. (internet). What I don't think would be fair is to copy, print and sell someone elses work. To just keep it and view it on your computer is really no big deal. Enjoy it, that's why I post it here cuz I knew most would like it.

Hey Denise - is that chain wrapped around your waist? If it was me they'd need a wrecker on the other end, hauling me up!

Geez Denise...I'm embarassed to admit, but you've seen more of Oz than me...For what its worth, Ayres rock has now been given back to the Aboriginals and they have re named it Oolaroo....and stopped tourists climbing it..sacred site. You'll be here in 2005?....hope the Nats are back in Sydney then we could hook up and go topless together in my 37 roadster, wait, even if the Nats are somewhere else I'll be there, I'm building this thing to drive, and damn it I'll drive the wheels off it:-) ...It should be finished by then...if it aint, then it will be buried with me:-)....

Thanks for the compliment Fred. Appreciate that. No, I didn't get it from www.loboys.com site. The cars that he has on his site are all either projects or photos from his annual Show and Swine. If/when I run across more cool photos of rods I'll share them since I'm finding out you guys are saving them.

Anything rat rod style or traditional kustom blast it on over this way. After attending the Hotrod Hoedown in Philly 2 years in a row and a local traditional style hot rod/kustom show here in MD 5 in a row, the rat rods have really turned my crank. You'll see that once the pictures get back to me. I think I took a pic total of 6 painted rides, the rest are primered, if that much! LOL
