Thinks have been alittle slow on the SRS homefront and I was just wondering what you guys have planned in you garages for the winter. What will you guys be working on?
I've been thinking about what my plans are for Big Olds for the next few months. Didn't get much accomplished last winter. I'm going to try alot harder to set goals and finish what I started. I've got about half of the convert top bows cleaned up, need to finish the other half. Then they need to go to the powder coater. Probley do them in beige to match the interior and top of the car. I need to then put them all back together. Hopefully the little letter marks that I stamped in them will still be there after their coated. I'll be getting all new hardware to stick them back together with. Hopefully it won't take as much time to stick them together as it did to take them apart.
I also need to instal the trim on all the glass and then instal the windows, of course installing the power window stuff at the same time. I've got bear claw latches to instal and door poppers. Might not sound like much to you guys but I've never done it and I'm feeling a bit overwelmed just thinking about it! :)
So what are you guys going to be up too???

Well, complete the wiring and fit/finnish before sending the coupe in for final paint in January.
After that I've been eyeing a sweet little 52 pontiac that my son (12) would like to do as his first project. It's complete and should be a neat little ride after he (we) are done with it!
Time is on my side though he's still 4 yrs away from being able to legally hit the streets.
.......Mind you, Dad "could" always finnish it early enough to take it on a couple of years worth of "road testing"

Resto-rod my '36 5w all original, 39,000 stocker and turn it into a hot rod. Install Must II, Ford rear, 454 Chev, rewire, re-gauge, install steelies with wide whites etc.
I'm leaving the exteior exactly the way it is with all the chrome and trim.
Then, drive the heck out of it next year.

Ditching the honeycomb style stock plastic grille insert in the van and either getting a billet 1/4" bar grille made or takin' the cheap-o way out and putting in wire mesh (gutter material)grille. After that, it's time to buy some 18" rims and slam it down a little ways with Air Ride. Then if time and $$$ is on my side I'll play with the interior some then by early March it'll be time to hit the streets again.
Cant wait!

One of my "few" regrets is getting rid of a 35 Buick 2dr. Same body style as the 34.
Had a 390 Caddy and I drove it everywhere for about 5 years including 3 Nats.
Selling it started a 8 year affair with 66-7 Vettes.

The ElCamino should be painted within the next two weeks. Then it's just a matter of putting all the trim pieces back on and getting the door panels done. Then I can start on my 34 chassis. Anyone got a spare 3 window body?

I am building a 54 Chevy for my wife. I may drive it some. It will use a electronic fuel injection motor and 700R type trans. This will be a road car for us to do some long distance traveling in but also a car that is not so rare that we can not use it everyday. I hope to drive it to Goodguys Indy.

Hi Denise, I glad you're working on the Big Olds. It would be a shame to see you in a Falcon. Even though I've got a soft spot for them. Before the top bows go to the coater take picture of them individually so you know which is which. I decided to hang on to the 57 as well, after taking a beating from Mary and my sons. I'm just finishing re-doing the 57 guages and building an aluminum insert to replace the stock trim on the dash. Got to do a new header system so I can tuck the exhaust up into the frame and quit banging it on Mich. freeways. Just a couple of other things to do over, and Spring will be here and I'll be looking for a project to drag home for next winter. I still want to find a decent 40 Ford Coupe.

Probably wait till after new years to start mine. Practice on Wally's, but mine will be back on the street by spring. Denise, you will be able to find me at Wally's most mornings during the week. Me? well I have to put in the headliner in the Hawk and take care of a few issues with the paint work, then it's time to take the '27 Ford design off the board and turn it to steel and tupperware. I will be building my own frame with air ride and slamming the thing down lower than the Stude. I gonna build the engines (yes 2) at work so Debbe won't know that the roadmonster is planned for twin engines. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Don't tell! Dave

My ears are ringing, its time for mufflers. Perhaps a port and polish and a slight reducing in compression on the 454. Have a new compressor and die grinder, bought the books, now to see if I can mess up a set of heads. Also need to fix the electric windows, won't stay in the track, wobbles as they go up.
Also going to look at a 36 & 37 coupe.( two cars) Also a frame for my 28 chevy that I've been dragging around for years.
The wife also informed me that we were going to Germany in the spring so will be just looking at the a for mentioned coupes.

Well....The furnace is on already and it's only October!Hope the weather cooperates(3" of snow yesterday) as I would like to drive the 37 a bit before putting it away for the winter.I'm sure I'll have a few glitches to work out after it's driven a few miles and then I can concentrate on the 36 Coupe.I also want to freshen up the flathead in my original 37 flatback, never fooled with one before other than to remove and dispose of them,so I'm sure I'll have lots of questions as I proceed with that project.Working on a possible new business adventure and if that materializes the time in the shop will be very,very,minimal...may have to recruit some help...anyone looking for a job...the shop is warm and the fridge is full of cold beverages!! I'm waiting on my cowl patch panels to come over from the US so in the mean time I'll get the chassis rolling and painted. Hopefully I get time to get the 351c and C4 back in and set up the fuel injection ( 2x4 tunnel rams with injectors plumbed in ) with 600 holleys modified to act like throttle bodies with TPI...thats when I'll get excited..building the heart of it.

I'm planning to freshen up the flathead in the 50,replace the carb, and detail the motor and the engine compartment before it goes back together. Want to detail out the trunk, right now I'm thinking on doing some sculptured vinyl and carpet. Then if the money and time is holding out, I want to build another 40's style teardrop trailer to tow behind the 50, polished aluminum and green, with mahogany interior (aka luan), wide whites and fiestas.

Hopefully lots of work on the Olds. The new outside rocker panels should be here today or tomorrow and I will see how much I have to cut up Chevy rockers to fit the Olds. Looks like I will be replacing most of the floor on it. I think I am going to put the Impala in a storage facility near here so I can park my truck in the garage this winter. We also had snow yesterday. It is also a pain to back the Impala out every time I am going to grind or weld, plus with the cam and such, not very many times in and out of the garage and it is so loaded up it won't run.

Okay, I'll bite.
First, the 57 is getting a top-end redo with Edelbrock RPM 64 ccs to replace the double humpers....1.6 roller rockers and a XE 268 newbie cam! Pulling all the Alan Grove chrome brackets off for one of my Concept One Pulley kits, new aluminum radiator from PRC. New upper As for more caster and maybe a rear end change on the old 12 bolt to something higher for the road....or a 700r4 to boot. Looking at the $$ situation for that change. Battery to the trunk too. A new flip up gauge pak for the dash front speaker grill.
Will flip up when needed. Hides as a speaker grill by day! I am putting in that Billet City super duper billet fan on front too! Can't wait to see that baby in there! Maybe new 16" torque thrust D chromes with 245/50/8 all the way around. Going to part with the old original torque thrust Ds 15s and 14s by spring.
Wife's 69 gets the RS headlights finished and the trunk finished as well. Ran out of leather last year...at least that was my excuse. Maybe new wheels too if I can convince her to do such. She is pretty fond of the 15" rallys that now adorn the spindles!
Dad's 55 has to have the Classic Instrument Cluster taken out and sent back to the factory for replacing the gas gauge. Yuk....I have to go to INDY to do that one. Brrrrrr!
On top of all that, I am helping to start a new ecommerce business www.itswholesale.com) and that is taking too much time. But, I want to retire in a few years and this is my next big project to speed that along.
How's that for a winter project? Do you think I will have time to eat or sleep?
