I ordered a '37 Ford grille from this company during the nats of Louisville..and after excuse after excuse I finally recieve it..and the thing isnt made to mount to the car? there arent any mounting holes anywhere along the center for the trim and nowhere to drill any mounting holes...I am very upset..and thought I would tell others of my experience with their products(grilles in particular) I wold not recommend them to anyone. for reproduction companies to be in the business of "reproducing" parts..they should be at least cast correctly.

Ya must have had stuff from a bad batch, I've always had luck with Obsolete. This is a first bad news story I've heard from them.

Several people were so upset on one of the Ford sites some months ago that the owner of OFP got wind of it and EMailed people with a long song and dance.

Your experience sounds very frustrating!

Have you contacted Obsolete Ford, and if so, what was their response?

I stop in there when we get out of drill eearly, or if I dont feel like eating lunch during drill. Im not too impressed with anything repo that they stock. And their chrome repo stuff is worse than any cheapo stuff youll ever get off e-bay. I think they lost site of their original intentions long ago when they started expanding. Ive bought a couple of small things and a few books, but thats about it.

For Early Fords, try to deal with Drake or Carpenter. It may seem pricy, but you'll be happy with what you get. I bought a pair of repro running boards once from another vendor and they turned out to be South American junk, similar to what your grill sounds like!

I have used thier 37 grill on several cars in the past.Though it's not a high quality, exact reproduction,I've managed to make them fit/look pretty good with a minimal amount of headache.Unless you are willing to pay the price and hunt for a nice original,to my knowledge, that's the only one available.I agree,Drake/Carpenter/Spadaro as a rule have better quality products and as Ed says, not usually a good idea to shop by price, but in this case,I believe they sell the same grill. One of the "warning signs" when looking for parts is the word "Imported" which usually indicates it's made in Argentina or another South American country.Good Luck and if you need some measurements to drill the trim/mounting holes I've got several original 37 grills and would be glad to help any way I can! See Ya!!

thanks everyone,I am not sure what im going to do now..I have drilled the mounting holes for the top trim piece but couldnt figure out how to drill the mounting holes for the center trim since it was just a seam..cant send it back already altered I wouldnt think..so Im thinking of just selling the grille/trim and use my original grille and paint the back side with cast grey and just clean it up...my issue was the pitting in the back of the bars and "covering" it up would work,hehe...but Daryle if you wouldnt mind sending me the measurements, just in case...that would be great as well...thanks again!

Jeremy; Isn't there some way you can glue or epoxy those suckers in place. Most of your newer cars have the trim stuck on w/two sided tape . B-O-B------DSRA

Hey Grant, you shoulda been at Menard's about a month or so ago. You could buy a package of different size wire ties, then get the full price back in a rebate check. I got two boxes, and used my GF's address on one of the rebates.
ALL FREE! (I felt just like Dave). LOL.

I bought running boards rom LeBarron Bonnie and would have thought they were quality but they were not. Had little 1/4 round rubber beads that were contact cemented down and most came apart before I got them mounted. Keep waiting for the step portions to come apart as well. Then ends of the stainless trim was not finished as well had to file it down as it stuck out over the ends a bit. SO you just never know but you can be assured they wnat there money as soon as possible.

I won't buy anything from them. At one time had several things on order and they shipped me cork gaskets for my 32 tail lights and charged me $4.00 shipping and $4.95 handleing on 2 65cent gaskets. I had also bought a headlight switch from them when it got to me, 100 miles, cost me $63.00. Sent it back and ordered one from Arizona from Mid fiftys Ford, cost me $26.00 total . Product, shipping and handleing.

I'm glad you guys post this info, that's part of the reason I'm here. It's different when you're fabricating something for a custom, but when you want a stock part, you expect to fit without all the hassels, or at least for the description of the part to say mods will be nessesary for installation, before you buy it.

Thanks
Gus

Ducesedan, I know what you mean about the shipping charges. When I was building my car Drake was advertising free shipping with $500 order. Well, I made my order and here comes part of it with shipping charges billed to me. I called them and they say if the order they send doesn't total $500 they charge for the shipping. Just because all the parts aren't in stock, the customer pays. Later on, the back ordered parts dribble in, with shipping charges on each package.

I certainly don't understand all this "handling" charge stuff. Isn't "handling" all part of doing business? Sure wish I could get another $4-5 extra dollars out of my customers for each dress I ship out. I might then have enough money for a top for Big Olds! LOL

I believe all of the above horror stories to be true, that's why I do not use much REPRO stuff. You have to on rubber and glass but nobody makes stuff for Henry's car like Henry did.

All lot of stuff is made by 1 manufactuer and then sold to Drake, Carpenter and the others. I cannot understand why anyone would go to the trouble to reproduce a part and it not be dead on.

Dale's Manufacturing in Okie City makes a 99 percent great insert for 32's. It is the best reproduced 32 part made IMHO.
