I am thinkin about cutting out a 57 chevy dash and swapping it with my studebaker truck dash. I know to do this i will need cutting and welding but i do not know how much. I was wondering if any one of you out there could tell me about how wide the 57 chevy dashes are. Any and all answers are appreciated, except the ones that call me crazy. lol
Tahnks,

You might want to look at this: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/024384.html
Your 57 dash is probably a bit wide for your truck, but the way to make it fit is to cut in the middle take out the required amount and weld it back together. This guys got a 59 Chevy dash (one of the widest cars ever built) in his model A, so if I was you, and you dig the 57 dash - go for it!

a friend of mine has a 59/60 dash in a 40 chevy. I'll see if I've got a pic.

Phil,
I would like to see the picture of the 40 chevy with the 59/60 dash. I narrowed that dash 13-1/2 to fit into a 40 Pontiac I was building. Sold the 40 before it was finished but kept the dash. I wanted to put it into my 39 Chevy but it's too wide ['bout 4"]. There really isn't a lot of material left to remove, so I would like to see how your friend did it.

Mike, I searched all my pix, and couldn't find the one of the dash (if I DID take one). I'll try to get over to his brothers shop, and see where it is, so I can get a pic.

Wistude I don't know why my original post didn't get posted but hereit is. The dash in my 57 measures 56.5in from inside trim to inside trim. If you remove the trim pieces it goes to 57.5.
