No scanner.
These shots were taken with my digital camera. Just lay out the old snap shot in lots of light so the flash does not come on and shoot.

My parents were barely born in '48, let alone me. :))

Your "top-less" cruzn buddy, Denise
Not 1948 but 1958. I was 18 and doing the quarter at 112 in 13.5. This car scared the sh_t out of me ... and I loved it. Drove it from Utah some friends and I built it while I was going to school, home to Chicago -- 1500 miles without a top. It was a blast! Half of the trip was with no brakes -- had only copper lines and blew a hole in a line somewhere in Nebraska when I stood on the pedal too hard.
I look back on that both as a glorious year and an example of pure idiocy. Both at the same time.

that's why I like hanging out here, you folks make me feel young! In 1948 I wasn't, my car wasn't. In 58, I was brand new and you could have purchased my 50 Ford for about $150.00 - $200.00.
I really enjoyed the photos Deuce & Dooce!

Randy, I thought that was you in the photos!!!(lol) The 40 Ford coupes were great moonshine cars with that big trunk, and the flathead could outrun just about anything the cops could throw at them. Nice photo's.

Wow, are those pictures of your actual cars in 1948. That's priceless to have that much history on them. Very cool!
The only thing I have that's original on my 1932 Bantam project is a tag and a title and for all I know that may be all that was left of it even in 1948. I wasn't even a thought yet, and my parents where still in the sandbox.

Here's a link to look at my hot rod in 1948. Since I sold the convertible last winter, this is the best I can do. 1960 ElCamino
