Have a fuel shut off valve, marine type valve that cost $40.00 and will not leak. Well for some reason it started to bind up and became very hard to turn off or on so I picked up another one and installed it Saturday. Today (sunday) I fired the car up and headed to town, I got about 3 blocks and the car quit, I thought, uh huh dirt in the line maybe, happened before, so I started to remove the fuel line to see if gas was flowing, no gas so I switched the valve on, a ah gas. The problem was the the old valve had a thumb lever that when it was in line with the fuel line (and thats the way I had it) it was open and when you turned it 1/4 turn it was off. The new valve now is off when in line with the fuel line and off at 1/4 turn, Just backwards. Funny I never gave it a thought to look at the valve when I had it off, just thought it would be just the same as the old one, no way, not gonna happen, they'er messin with me............... At least I know a thief won't get more than 3 blocks with my car. Check it then check it again......
