my name is Robert and I have started advertising my website here and was told I could introduce myself and my site. I started a website called www.midnitemotors.com that went online May 1st of this year. It is an automotive auction site similar to ebay but at half the cost with no commission. It is for cars, parts and accessories only. Registration is free and right now you can also list your auctions for free until the end of the month. Also, we are having a contest to win an all steel '32 roadster body built by Reprosteel in Sweden. These bodies are exact reproductions off of Henry's and more info can be found out about them on www.roadsters.com who are the exclusive importers. To have a chance to win all you need to do is get on the site and register, which is free. To increase your chances, for every item you list or every item you bid on and win you will receive an extra chance. So if you list fifty items, you will have fifty-one chances to win. Bid on and win twenty-five auctions and you will have an additional twenty-five chances to win. The body has a value of $10,000. Below is a photo of the first prototype body being checked for fit. The site is much more user friendly than ebay and much easier to navigate. Since we went online in May, we are getting over 100,000 hits a day and the number of registered users are in the thousands. This contest will be mentioned in Decembers issue of Rod & Custom, N.S.R.A. Streetscene and Goodguys where we also advertise. Thanks for your time and good luck.

Hey, take your non- American Hot Rod body and leave! How insulting is that? Atleast give away an American made body!
That's like displaying an American flag made in China!

Thanks everyone for all your kind words. mr. willys, not sure if your pulling my leg or not but no one is forcing you to get on the site. If winning a high quality body worth 10 grand is that bothersome to you because it comes from Sweden then don't register. My site has people registered from all over the world. And when it comes to the Swedes, they build some of the finest rods imaginable. Like my father said, "Some people grow weeds just to pull them".

Let me get this straight, because I am giving away a very high quality body that happens to be made in Sweden somehow makes me un-american. The only statement that you have made so far that I TOTALLY agree with is that "you are not going anywhere".

Why do I always feel like Mills Lane when I make a post anymore?
Nobody is going to change anyone's mind here. We are very thankful that Mr. Iannello has chosen to support SRS by advertising with us. There's never been an advertisement that has made everyone happy and this won't be the first. We told Mr. Iannello that he was welcome to promote his site and giveaway here as long as he was willing to pay for advertising. If you are not interested in this advertiser (or any other), don't visit the site. If all of our advertisers are lynched, we won't have any more in the future and SRS will cease to be.

Jason,
first off please call me Robert.
Past that I just wanted to say hi, I like the your site and take a look at mine and for the effort you could win something very nice. It never ceases to amaze me the extent that some people will go through to bitch about something just for the sake of bitching. This car thing is supposed to be nothing but FUN and I normally ignore peoples like mr willys comments, but when some idiot questions my integrity or patriotism(?) I feel I must speak up. Funny, while I was waiting to finalize the advertising with Dick I was lurking here and read the thread about the HAMB. All I can say about that is that I am PROUD to be a member and that everyone there has been extremely kind and supportive of my endeavor, contrary to what was written about them, as well as RRT, ChevyTalk, Roadsters and more sites than I care to type. All that being said, check out my site, if you like it please use it in addition to your other auctions, if not dont. Glad to be here and good luck. Thanks,
Robert

The words cast at me have bounced right off, and, the people on this board who know me, and my talents, know that I will be around this hobby in a very positive way, for a VERY long time.
As I mentioned before, in what I thought was a polite manner, Good Day SIR!

Robert, please don't judge all 1,300 members here by the opinions of a few, whether it's this thread or others that you may have read earlier. I think your a nice guy and can add to this forum. I would hate for you not to come back. I also think you have a great "product" to offer whether I win a body or not, it's still a hell of a deal. Besides, what would I do with another unfinished rod? Can't even finish the one I have! :)) I plan on doing some cleaning out in my garage and throwing some more "stuff" up for auction that I just have lying around. Again welcome to the site.

Maybe mr willys posts were tongue-in-cheek but without the non-verbal communication, none of us knew he was joking.
when I first read his post, I was a little disturbed by the prejudicial nature. If he felt that way about Swedes, how would he feel if the body was made in Canada? Am I to be swiped by the same prejudicial brush? Would you tell all Canadians who participate on this board to take a hike?
Robert, I posted my roadster for sale on your site and, like you said, it is easy to navigate and very simple to use. Its one of the better sites available. Keep it running! (and I hope I win the body!!)

edcroozer,
it does not seem to be over as he is still sending e-mails laughing and inferring that he has you guys in his back pocket. I was hesitant to post his disparaging e-mail but i have kids here and others should know the type of person that he is. The fact that it was taken off bothers me as it gives the impression that people on here condone this and can do whatever with no recourse as it will be covered up. He wrote it so why cover it up. Wasn't this exactly what people on here were complaing about HAMB?

I never had any intent other than to support this site and maybe get some in return. I did not start down this path. As for legalities, according to the State of Michigan Attorney Generals Office and my attorney the contest is legal. Everyone has a chance to win for free, just by registering. You can add to your chance to win by using the site.

denise,
the winner will be picked May 1st of next year on our 1 year anniversary. As far as how the winner will be picked, we are thinking of actually having names in a barrel and have someone draw a name. Seems cooler than having a computer do it. Maybe do it in conjunction with a carshow?

I have to take offense to the "cover up" comment. What was said between the two of you privately is to remain that way. If a private conversation was aired publicly, it was removed because it was an inappropriate place for it to begin with. I don't consider that a cover up. If anyone else had done the same thing, the same result would have occured - its removal.
I really don't care how people behave outside of how they act on our site. If they can participate in conversations without breaking our rules (some would say overly-strict rules, but this is a business and we chose to err on the converative side to keep things respectable) then they are more than welcome.

Jason,
I agree, but the e-mail originated from your site. I have not responded to his e-mails so there was no conversation. What was inappropriate was his attitude and comments from the get-go. Living in Detroit, I am surrounded by every nationality as they came here to work for the Big Three. I am offended by such ignorant remarks becuase of ones ethnicity and duely responded. The fact that I was sent that e-mail just proves that my assumption of his ignorance is indeed the case. I did not mean any offense, but his second e-mail suggested that he can do whatever he wants and others here will back him up. I guess my problem is I call a spade a spade.
