Has anyone heard of a battery cut-off that can mount on the firewall as the battery is in the floor of our '37 Chevy? A friend told me of this. It has a key?
Please email me at: alklb@alklb.com
thanks! Alan

I have just a switch type mounted out of sight for anti theft as well as anti fire protection. Also have a fuel shut off that is hidden as well. One thing to keep in mind is, the battery switch will not work when driving or while car is running unless you interupt the coil wire at the same time. The alternator will keep the car running.
Of course you could turn the ingition switch off but if you have a locking steering wheel guess what..........
Just a thought !!

Alan, cheap and easy fix. Find a CAT bull dozer of other heavy equipment, yank the kill switch off and hook it up to the hot rod.
Had 'em on every hot rod so far mounted within hand reach on the floor under the drivers seat that way if something came up I could switch it off within 2 seconds. Never failed me! Ya oughta check into it!
See ya

Go to a good parts store and look in their electrical/ignition buyer's guide. There are many shutoff switches to choose from, some even have the alternator field wire disconnect feature. In Napa the part numbers start with the letters SW.

this cut off is a great idea........i have one near my rt knee........just for car jacking.....and staying in hotels/motels -- car theft prevention....... i drive my car A LOT>>>ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. stay in a lot of weird dandereous places....... always concerned about all these things.....
car jacking........if you wire it rite you can turn it off , leave it running for escape and it will continue to run on the alt........BUT....if you turn it off it will not restart on the battery.its dead. when you remove that red plastic key its pretty foolproof. my trunk is electric....thats where my batt. is.....i also have electrical interlocks for computer, fuel and ign. you cant hotwire it .....you cant get in the trunk to get to power..... iam not worred about it......when i sleep in a strange motel in bum f**** nowhere. i NEVER stay in a motel with out a car cover on it to hide exactly what it is......
protect your rod however you can.......
iam not impressed with alarms or the club.
the only thing that can get my rod is a recovery wrecker at 0200 with rear wheel hdy hooks.....and if i had hdy brake locks for the front brakes that would not be that easy......after dragging my locked front wheels till they blow out.....lol

Here's a hint to do, so you can hear what's going on around your car at nite. Get one of those baby monitors. Stick one part in your truck, on dash for instance, in the talk position and have the other part in your room on your nite stand. If there is anyone near your car talking this monitor will pick it up. Lots of Power Tour guys use these.

Baby monitor eh? Would never have thought of that. Maybe get a good night sleep instead of up and peering out the window every half hour. Great idea.
