NSRA has decided that this run is a stepchild. They figured that since they were on the way to California that this was just a bump in the road. Moving the dates to April, the wettest month of the year will surely result in a rain-out for years to come. This run should be in June or Sept/Oct.
It is very evident that the city doesn't want us there. They call out all the cops to harass ALL drivers not just the streetrodders. They block streets so you can't make a left turn into your hotel and even block off an exit off I-40. Why go somewhere you are not wanted and at a time of the year when you could be in 40 degree weather and will be rained out for sure. You will not see me at OKC next year and I'm not the only person that feels this way.

I went there this year in April and it rained but a rainy day at a car show is better than a work day at home. OKC is hot in the summer and the move to April helps, but it does rain in April. I will take the rain instead of the heat. The problems with the cruzin is more from the younger local crowd and not the streetrodders.

I was there Bob, and commented on those very points in an earlier post shortly after the show.
The locals were friendly enough, no complaint there, just the 'powers that be' seem to have a chip on their shoulder.
Too bad. I doubt seriously I'll go back

They should move the location to Tulsa. That town sure knows how to make hot rodders feel welcome! Was there in 2000 & 2001 while on Hot Rod Mag's Power Tour. The whole town rolled out the red carpet for us. I guess Tulsa is smart enough to realize how much MONEY hot rodders spent while visiting their city. If an person has never seen a power tour roll into their town, it's a site to see. I'm not talking a few hundred cars here, I'm talking a few THOUSAND! This relates to hundreds of thousands of dollars spent in motel/hotel, fuel, food, etc. OKC better wake up before they lose the show, and all that income coming into their town.

Your "top-less" cruzn buddy, Denise
I grew up in OKC and was glad that there was always a show in my backyard. All of the police activity stem from when the BIG NATS were held in OKC in 83 and 86? Things got really out of control ( i have some video to prove it ). Waterhoses were hooked to the McDonalds, drug out to the street whick made for a really nice little burnout area. Problem was that the streets were packed with rods and the spectors were 4 and 5 deep on the curb. I believe that one dude got out of control on the on-ramp to I-40 and ended up in the ditch. Now keep in mind that these were rods and not the local crowd. I think the show is still a good show but rodders should avoid all the hotels on Meridian as that is the problem location. I do agree that the summer in Oklahoma aint no time to have a carshow(to hot). I still would go a spring date over the summer date anytime.

1983 was a long time ago Carter. I don't think todays streetrodders should be harrassed or held accountable for actions by something that happened 20 years ago.

Hey I couln't agree anymore....I actully haven't been to OKC show in about 3 years. The actions that are taken in OKC are extreme to say the least. Blocking off interstate exit ramps is extreme. I was just kinda giving a little history of the NSRA and OKC event and a possible rodder based solution (stay away from Meridian Ave.). I always thought that having OKC as the "SOUTHWESTERN NATS" was kinda odd once they added Springfield as the Mid America Nats. How "Southwest" is OKC anyway. I all for moving its locations - now that I dont live there anymore.

We would love to have the nats in Tulsa. Seems there was a problem a few years back with the fair board but we now have a brand new fair board. Tulsa could handle the nats with just as many hotel/motel rooms and a bunch of great eating places. Write NSRA and stir them up. If enough people say they are going to skip OKC they may see the light. Sept/Oct would be a great time, we have a string of days right now with highs in the low 80's and mid to high 50's in the evening. Come to Tulsa we will show you a great time.
