does anyone know how to remove a steering column lock from a '78 ford mustang 2?

I don't have a key and would like to replace the cylinder.

Thanks for helping.

Hillman, you're going to have to take it to a locksmith. You need a key in the cylinder to be able to turn the lockset out of the column. Once you have a key look for a small hole (about .035") straighten out a paper clip and push it into the hole. Turn the key to the accessory position and fully push the paperclip into the hole and the cylinder should turn about 1/4 turn and pull out.
Have fun, Rochie

I think if you take the VIN number to a Ford dealership they can cut you a key that fits for a couple of bucks.
