Just got back from checkin' out a fellas basket case roadster that he's sellin'. Its a 27 bucket without pick-up, or turttle type back end. It's glass and is extended in the seating area. The floors are raised 4 inches, and the body is all steel reinforced with doors and latches installed. The frame is new along with the front end and brakes. The rear is 8" Ford with ciol overs. The engine is Chey with an automatic (used). there's also a convertable top (chopped) for it also. No windsheild as he was going to go with a duvall. Most everything is new. He's asking 7 grand for all. I know I can get it for less.(you know me,,,,,,,cheap bast**) How much is too much? Dave

One canusually find an in progress "T" bucket with a questionable motor in Canada for about $4,000! I sold a good buddy a 27 bucket with rolling chassis (front end completely chromed) brake lines in, rebuilt chrome corvair steering box. chrome drag link and connecting rod, chrome 4 bar set up front and rear, steel body, complete with regi, for $1500!!! Thats about $800 'Murican, eh!!???

I sold a fiberglass T project last month for $2200.00 and made money over what I have given for it in June. I am on my way this evening to look at a 27 T driver with title for an asking price of $4500.00. The T is an entry level hotrod. You can get into one much cheaper and it builds faster but you are lucky to get your money back. However, most hotrodders are not interested in making money, but it is nice to not lose any money.

"T" Roadsters do seem to go quite "inexpesively", don't they!! Don't really know why, maybe its the size of the rod, or its simplicity, or what, but they are usually less dear than a 30's or 40's car,for sure...

Well, that above deal for 2500 went to 5000 grand when he saw that someone was interested. Oh well, it did sound a little to good to be true. I'm building it for the little woman (not a wife, guys) and she wasn't too hip on haveing a pickup type rod. Dave

I think buckets go cheap because so many of them are entry level rods, and not the best workmanship.
When someone does build a nice clean one, they can't get their price as there are so many cheap ones around.

"T"z may be entry level rods, but our "tub" just beat out a $35,000 rod (among others) for best classic rod this last weekend, and it stands me $20,000 Canadian. This was at an American event, but a lot of people round here know our car has "history" and I think that helps alot!

I'm planning on spending around 4 grand tops. My Stude is only 6200 at this time. The fun is searching out the parts for a bargin. Dave

He said $20K Canadian. That's like $1500 US! hehe
My bud had one of the nicest buckets I'd ever seen. Very classy and well built. It took him 3 years to get $11,000. Everyone kept saying, "I can by that one over there for $6000" as they pointed to a pile that shouldn't be on the road.

Also said it was a "tub", not a bucket. I know that doesn't affect the price by much, and the conversion on $20,000 Canuck is about $13 or $14,000 'Murican! I know it ain't no trophy queen, but I am AMAZED at all the beautiful rods it beat out this last weekend. Still can't figure out "Murican rationalization! My buddy won best stock p.u. with a mild custom 53 Chev 2 dr hdtp. Next weekend (different sho) They give me best foreign--- for a Ford Touring!!!! Like I said in an earlier post.... "Must be something in the water"
