After seeing pics of several roadsters with duval windsheilds and tops, How do you attach a top (either folding or liftoff) to a duval style windshield? Mine came from wescott, and is smooth on the edge that a header bow would connect to, with no pins or any visable means to latch a top down. It's on my 31 Roadster, and although its for a 32 it fits the cowl fine.

Most of them I have seen have a threaded hole in the backside of the windshield on each side for some kind of screw in fastener. A strip of metal is attached to the top with a hole for the fastener to go through. Felt or rubber is used as a cushion between the two surfaces. I did this on the windshield post of a '29 Ford roadster I used to have. It held the fiberglass top on very securely. I could grab the top and shake the entire car. Never had a problem.

I'm not sure how the Duvall windshield is set up to accept a top, but I can think of a few ways.
A pin or two added to the Duvall frame looks workable.
Main thing I thought I'd point out is that if you're going to run a folding top and get a top kit (from Lebaron-Bonney) there should be no problems with fit as there is an excess of material in the front.

I have exactely the situation you describe and I just finished the latching aspect. In my case it is a Gibbon body ('32) and Gibbon hardtop with a Grant Castings DuVall. I used three SS draw latches (McMaster carr 1889A34). Mounted the strikes on the frame and the latches in the top. The strikes are very small and cannot be seen from the front. The rear of the top is held down by two lift-and-turn draw latches near the positions of the stock top retainers.

Experience is a wonderful thing. It enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.

Yeah, would like to see them also. Working on a 29 and may go lift off top. Haven't decided yet. Thanks.
