hello.i was recently twidling my thumbs thinking of a 47 international pickup we have. i thought it would be a pretty cool cruiser if it worked. then i thought something that isnt that rare, and that is to put the body on an s-10 frame. i was wondering what cutting and modifying would have to be done to make this work. i dont want to change motors or transmissions from the frame, just stock s-10 except the body.has anyone tryied this? is it hard? is there a better frame for this job? any information is appreciated. thanks and till next time, tony kronaizl

A friend of mine put either a 47 or a 46 KB body on a 1970 Nova frame. I dont think he had too much trouble with it, and he was able to use all of the nova running gear. Hmm, i will see if i can post any more details in the near future.

A 1970 Nova ddoes NOT have a frame. It has a sub-frame in the front and a uni-body setup in the rear.
Sorry......

Don't go this route. Modify the original frame. I've seen some of these S-10 frame conversions. They seldom look right and it will reduce the resale value. My two cents worth . . .

My suggestion is to do a BUNCH of measuring. Usually the biggest problem with putting an early body on a lare model frame is the engine location. The engine is generally located directly OVER the front wheel center-line. This puts the radiatorway out front and it may interfere with your grill/fenders. Measure from center-line of front wheels to the radiator on the S-10. Then do the same on the IH and see if the rad. will fit behind the grill. If it won't, you'll have to move the engine back...a ton of work...and at this point you might as well just modify the IH stock frame.
This was all learned the HARD WAY. A few years back, I built a '40 Ford Pickup w/'37 pass. car sheetmetal, mountad on a Datsun pickup frame. It came out great but was a TON of work. I'll try to post a pic...but I don't really know if this will work
