I am making a custom beetle, and want to french the head lights, but don'treally know how. If there are any good tech articles on the net that anyone knows of, or if anyone can tell me themselves, it would be great.

I think, since the fender has a solid bucket welded in it, you need to cut an access hole in the back that can be covered with a plug of some kind. The hole needs to be large enough to access the back of the headlight so you can change a burned out Halogen bulb. Yes, if you don't already put Halogens with replaceable bulbs in instead of sealed beams. also make two small holes (that also get plugs) for access to the aiming adjusters that you modify so that theay work from the rear instead of the front. The rest is welding the desired door on the front and refinishing the fender. Another way would be to remove the entire bucket from another fender and use it to over cap and mount the headlight from the back. using screws or bolts and blind nuts to mount it in.

I'd like to see somebody tell a bigtime builder they want their head/tail lights or antennas 'Freedom'ed' LOL...Should bring some laughs.
