The Americruise East is scheduled August 22- 24 in Bloomsburg,PA, the same weekend as Macungie, PA- WOTSRA Rod & Custom Jamboree. That means that the folks organizing Americruise just eliminated 2300 cars from their potential car count. I say that, because if you don't show up at Macungie, you don't get in again. Of all the weekends this summer, they have to be on the same one.
It always seems to work that way, one weekend three good shows, the next weekend, not much going on.

I noticed that too.
At least the folks who can't get into Macungie have a place to go. :-)
Americruise will also miss out on alot of spectators, like myself, who will be at Macungie! .....I would attend both events if the dates didn't conflict.

Same as York & the Gasser Gathering in Ohio.....seems like those putting on the shows need to do some extra credit homework so we dont have 5 and 6 shows in the same day/weekend. I used to be non stop all week going back and forth from show to show....now I go to the better one and stay there.

Seems to me if you "can't get in" to a show it must be full and a second venue choice to party on the same day would be a GOOD thing!?!
Or is it the "Be there or be square" event?
Besides, different types of personalities will have choices, maybe.
"if you don't show up at Macungie, you don't get in again."
Does that mean if you are "absent" from the show you are disqualified from registering for the next year?
If so, there REALLY needs to be another venue the same day!

Yes, participation in Macungie is that "sought" after that they do indeed do that. If you register, and don't notify them that you won't be there in advance, you're out for good. I think that the theory is, that it's not fair to enter, taking away someone else's chance to be there, knowing that you're not gonna be there. Put it this way, two years ago, I sent in my entry on Monday, the day after the show, and I was too late. Show's booked. I know it doesn't make sense, trust me, I made a few phone calls about it. They told me to show up Friday of the show, and get on a waiting list. If people don't show up, they give you their spots.
As far as the show, yea, it's pretty nice. Good location. Good entertainment late into the evening, Olympic size pool, good door prizes. It's one of the better shows in the area. For the group putting on the Bloomsburg show, it's not wise to go up against them. Why not have it the week before? There aren't alot of really great shows within a few hours drive. It's a shame for those whom would like to attend both of them.

It isn't that the club that puts the show on has their nose's in the air, it's that the park the show is in only has so much room. I believe that the cutoff is around 2400 cars. I buddy of mine has been going since it started and makes sure he is registered before he leaves the show. He tells me that it's better than any NSRA or Goodguys show he's ever been to and the giveaways are fantastic.
Same goes for the hotels in the area....give up your room and don't expect to get one there next year.

The Wheels of Time Street Rod Assoc is the group which puts on the show. They run a first-class event, and it is the quality of the event, which packs the people in. The club donates a HUGE amount of the proceeds to many local charities, and is well appreciated and supported by the locals. Greed does not appear to be the club's motive.
The park where the show is held is limited in size, and almost every square foot is utilized. They restrict entries to approx 2300 cars, and the grounds are packed. ....The venue is one of the big reasons for the success of the show. Grass, trees, bandstand, and swimming pool make it a popular destination for rodders. The show wouldn't be the same if relocated to some giant parking lot. ....If they would relocate the swap area, vendor, and car corral off-premises, they could accomodate more entrants. However, they've been running the event this way for so many years, they're reluctant to make changes.
Because so many people want to enter/participate in this event, registration fills up immediately. The club has discussed several ways of how to do this fairly, but someone will always be unhappy. .....I know a lottery system has been considered, but many people do not like that idea. So, until they find a better way, it's a first-come-first-served basis. .....I sincerely believe they try to be fair.
Many of us located nearby, avoid the hassle of registration, attending as spectators instead.

Well put Bruce! Simply put, it's a great show to attend, and it benefits good causes. Another thing I fogot, the guest appearances are always good. Big Daddy Don Garlits was there two years ago, cruising in Swamp Rat I.
That's why I think Family Events should have scheduled Americruise East another weekend, especially the first annual one. They're trying to rebuild a show that they destroyed in Bloomsburg. But, that's another story. They just amaze me with their lack of strategic planning for events.

If I recall, it's also the same weekend as the inaugural event at te Eastern States Exposition Gorunds (Big E) being put on by the folks that own the Syracuse Nationals show.
That one's only 85 miles from my place. I'll be at Macungie, though and that's 5 1/2 hours one way.
The big difference, in my opinion, is thatMacungie's run by a club while the Syracuse organization is a business with a select few keeping their hans on the proceeds.

well, honestly yes it does make sense, I live 45 minutes from machungie and honestly the wheels of time "show" is my least favorite event at the park. they have great cruises throughout the summer, as well as an antique show and truck show. the wot show is just too damned big, so big that "events within the show" are limited. very little crusin' goes on.....
I am headed to bloomsburg, lets hope they get it together!

Funny this is here as my macungie# just came in the mail today. I think they do a great job and have meet a lot of nice people there. I tend to like the mix of cars and not the NSRA 48 cut off crap. Too bad more promoter dont follow there lead. The eastern states one is only about 40 min from home but i decided i liked the show in Pa (4-5 hour ride)so.....off we go. Bob you get a # ? You gonna show this time?LOL Big? Now columbus GG is big..way too big not going this year.

Nope, didn't have an entry form. You need to drop it in the mail the day of the show to get in! I could go as stand by, and, wait to see if I can get in, but, I have hotel reservations for Bloomsburg. Planned on giving it a shot, before I found out that the same knuckleheads that destryed the show at Bloomsburg are running Amreicruise up there. I'm really undecided at this point, both these shows are two hours away from home.

Yep, my Macungie # showed up in the mail today too. Macungie, at least for us, is a "must do" show (4 hr drive). It's nice to go to a show and see the promoters (WOT Club) actually help the community with thier donations. Good Guys and NSRA just seem to be interested in only lining thier pockets.
Was at the fist 2 Bloomsburg show and will NEVER go back...especially hearing it's the same promoters.
Just my 2 cents
