trans question

Ok, today as i was driving, my transmission (1979 chevy THM 350) momentarily shifted out of gear for about a second. This was the first time it slipped while driving, although it occasionally slips out of gear when im stopped at a light and such. Whats the prognosis?
(Im not complaining because this is a junkyard transmission i bought for $50 and it has given me almost 2 years of trouble-free service)
So, is the trans doomed? would a filter change help? any info would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.

By all means try the fluid and filter change. If it hasnt slipped enough to burn the clutches then it may be ok.

If it ain't broke...Fix it anyway!

I would check the fluid level before I did anything else and make sure the vacum line to the modulator vavlve is not severed....Fatchuk
