Just got home from my spur-of-the-moment week long 2000-mile holiday. The '48 ran like crap the whole trip. Between some silicone in the gas tank intermittently plugging the pickup tube to having a couple of the new lifters collapse, it was a nail-biting kinda trip. At least I made it home. LOL
On the plus side, I had a great visit with Rick (Loboy) and Binderskeepers from Loboy's Rod & Custom shop in Manitoba. What a nice bunch of people. Thanks for the lunch, too. :-) I got the grand tour of their shop, plus the special treat of getting to see the "field of dreams" up close and in person. I can sum that experience up in one word. "WOW"! If anyone is up in that area, be sure to drop by. It's worth the trip!
After leaving Loboys I cruised into Winnipeg. I got to drive through a fantastic thunderstorm on the way. (I love thunderstorms) Apparently I missed some tornadoes by a few minutes. Baseball sized hail, too. :-) The rain came down so hard I could barely see past the end of the hood. Never turned the wipers on, though. Rain-X works great!!
The trip home was a treat, too. On top of the truck acting up, I got to spend a night at a Super 8 Motel along with about 25 Hells Angels. Think I got any sleep? LOL

Hi Al!
Glad to hear you made it home safe and sound. I had hoped you missed the tornados and hail after you left. Fortunately we escaped any harsh weather in our immediate area.
Take the time to remove your fuel tank and clean it thoroughly! That silicone is nasty stuff! I too found out the hard way! :(
It was nice to meet you in person. Glad you stopped by. Anyone from the SRS board is welcome to stop by anytime! Might even buy ya lunch! rj

So, what is this silicone problem you are all talking about? Did you use silicone to seal up something on your tank?

It's not a NOMAD, it's a Yeoman!
Not an engineer, but I DO drive a train.
Off topic here, and GLAD you made it home O.K. AND here's a little "local" update...and I'm posting it in this thread cause it was started by a homie!! Lipstick Run made it safely to G G's in Puyallup this last week end! All's seems well with only minor damage to Liz' Bra ...err, trailer bra that is, guys!! Temp fix will be attempted with some matching black 200 mph tape!!
They hope to be back home sometime in early August. I'll let her fill ya'll in on ALL the other "good stuff"
Also like to add additional thanks to NoMoBux and his gang for the Royal treatment they extended to us on our visit there as well. LOVE that Rat-Rod, and I think we got "that wave" down pat now too!!

Thanks for the Lipstick update! I was wondering where they ended up. It figures that I head to Liz's city when she's not there. LOL

Yes i did that around a sending unit in my boats gas tank yrs. ago Phil and the gas in the tank loosened the silicone up and it went straight to the filter and pluged it up many times.

Phil, it was something that had been done to the tank before I bought the truck. It's been fine up till now. I have over 50K trouble-free miles on it. For some reason it picked now to give me problems.
I have a new poly "Tanks" tank waiting to be installed, so the problem won't be around much longer.
