If an American buys a body from a Canadian

Okeedokee! If I sell the body off my roadster to an American, does anyone know what he has to do, if anything, to get it across the border. Is it just "parts"?

I'll check, I have a few Buddys that do a bit of this sort of thing but not sure when I can get back to you on this.

Thanks "OF"! No big rush, but I've had a few guys asking about it that are interested in the body package I have for sale. (See "32 Ford roadster body package for sale"

O.K. ...talked to one buddy this A.M.@ Mission Klassics (B.C.) breakfast meeting and he says they are just "parts" but it will depend on who you are dealing with at customs (and this holds true for Customs Canada AND American Customs...) it depends who you are talking to /with at the time you are actually doing the transaction as to how much grief you can expect with regards to importing /exporting anything. It depends if the person is a "good guy" or a 100%'er if you know what I mean. There are ways around many legal issues at the border and by luck, if you manage to get a "good guy" you shouldn't have any problems at all.
I'm sure your brother "Uncle" Bill would know the name "Bunny" from over here on the mainland. He's the guy that gave me the info...for what its worth. If you need mor info, I can dig a little more for you but you can access the same info I can through the internet. The best way to deal with an issue like this is to go to an American Customs office and talk to someone there. In your case there should be one right at the ferry slip. That'd be the ferry to Washington...

Okay, thanks for all you help - much appreciated! Yeah, I know Bunny (Jabeau, right?). I kind of figured it would be "parts" and as always I kind of figured on the "depends on who you talk to at the border" part of it! Doesn't really matter what the law is, they can make it as hard or as easy as they want! Do you mean my "my brother uncle Bill" or "my brother mister Bill"??? Thanks again! LZ

Yeah Larry, Mister Bill, the one who attends the medical clinic where my works, and yes, we know the same "Bunny" in fact we just spent the day with them at "Agassiz Street Meet" where we won Best Street Rod Open!
