351W or 390

Ok wonderful people if you had your choice (you GM folks be nice) which engine would you use as I have both under the bench and it is getting close to putting it in.

Being a GM guy, I would leave the engines holding up your work bench. ..lol. I think the 351 would be the better choice because of parts avaiability.

Also being a GM guy I think he should go with a 514ci if you wants to compete with the GM guys... I can't believe I said that..Lol....

I agree with Ed. The 351 not only has better parts availability, it is much later technology and should be a far more superior engine.

Yup this chevy man will have to agree with Ed and Lynn 351 or bust in your case! The aftermarket parts that you can find will blow your mind and some chevys! RLMAO now!

I just got thru doing a 302 in a 70 Mustang and I liked the results, so I would stick with the 351. Edelbrock RPM heads, roller rockers, yadda yadda yadda.... 345hp on the dyno. Costs were compro to a chevy. The only thing I did not like about the Ford is the water pump debacle. But, the new fangled 140 amp internal fan chrome alternator with the March pulleys look awesome! I would look at them for your application.

Besides...what is the difference in weight...you will be able to make as much power with the 351 with the technology that is available like the guys say!
