I need help. I have a 71 Monte that I just put back on the road after a 5 year hiatus. My problem is it won't shift into 2nd. it has a t350 trans in it. Reverse, 1, and 3 work fine. It goes down the road good. It just won't use 2nd. It goes from 1st to 3rd. Also the speedo doesn't work. Please help.

did you recently install the trans, if so did you check the correct thension on the shift cable, can you manually shift thru the gears. you may also want to check the fluid level too.

Fluid level is fine, transmisson has been in the car for 10 years. It does have a leak in the front seal. I will probably just change it out with another.
