1941-42 Ford

I am confused as I thought that no cars were built in 42 yet it seems that there was quite a few built. The reason I question this is that I find a lot of parts for the 40 Ford and the 42 on up it seems that the 41 was an odd ball. Can you shed some light on my feeble brain.

The 42s came out in the spring of 41. By December 7th they had been on the market for atleast a half year. The economy was improving and auto sales were brisk. Production of sedans and pickups continued during the war. Most went to the military but some were sold to doctors, farmers and other civilians performing essential war time work. These wartime vehicles did not have much, if any, chrome trim. When the war ended the 42 model was put back into production with some cosmetic changes and continued in production until the all new 49 models were introduced.

I've got a 41 Pontiac, which looks different (in the front anyway) than the 40's and 42's. Back in the 70's, early 80's, I had a 46 Ford 1/2 ton pu. After I restored it, I took it to the original owner, who said that when she and her husband bought it, it came with a wooden plank for a front bumper. Ford later sent them a steel one. BTW, it looked just like a '42.

It's not a NOMAD, it's a Yeoman!
Not an engineer, but I DO drive a train.
