...So I've got this custom flamed mailbox my buddy Tom who paints all my stuff did for me about 10 X-Mas' ago. About an hour ago I decide to get up off my sick (like cold/flu sick) butt and clean this pig pen of mine up even though I dont want to. Anyway, I get to my flamed motorcycle helmet...it comes out great (also done by Tom) and then start to work on the mailbox....give it a little shine job with a clean (brand new) rag and some Mothers polish (use it on the cars..and it's the same paint as we all use on our rides) all is good so far... Next thing I know about 2 inches of the white striping around the flame lifts and comes off. It's away from any and all heat (although I doubt home light bulbs would heat it up that bad for the paint to lift in the first place). And it's not like I went crazy wiping it in hard... I did as I've done on the cars from day one. The helmet lived with no boo boo's. Should I not use Mothers on 'em anymore? Worked for 10 years....dont know why all of a sudden the paints falling off? Looks like I gotta touch it up or get somebody to do it. I haven't had too much success when it comes to layin' lines.

Grant. First clean it up with 40 grit sand paper, Push real hard then get your old girlfriends clear nail polish (in your top drawer) and use it to glue the striping down, While you are at it...do the whole thing. To dry it, Drag it behind your van for a few miles, Don`t go too far, You may just be towing a rope if you do. Be careful of the sparks. Hope this helps. ....lol

Now I know I'm old, but if memory serves me, didn't we hear of Grant trunning 21 years old a little while back? Then 10 years ago makes Grant 11 doesn't it? What was the helmet for? Tricycle? Gokart? Benchracing? Dave

Dave, Yup....I was 11 when I recieved the helmet (B-Day)....everybody swore if I didn't slow down in the chair I was out to get somethin' with a big ol' engine, or stick one on the chair and go racin'! LOL.. Christmas netted me the mailbox. And a flamed trash can (used to be a paint can thats now without the top and painted black with gold/orange flames...big ol' flakes too!) the following X-Mas.
Ed, Can I nail it with a hammer too? LOL

Hey maybe the white stripe was actually one of those crayon style pencils that stipers use to get the line first with, that stuff would wash off with some cleaner.
