Here is the data:
'40 Ford Pickup--street use (no racing) Mostly around town stuff with occasional freeway runs.
Have a fresh '87 305 SBC long block -- adding TPI
Using a 5 speed Camaro stick box and an 8" rear
Rear tires will be 15" , probably around 205 or 225 (no larger)
Initially planning to use a 355 ratio, but I read an article where a fellow was using a 300 pumpkin and said it worked fine. Fact is he recommened using it!
Now my memory also recalls reading that such a ratio had caused some U-joint and drive viabrations at higher speeds...it was something to do with TPI's torque and the computer not working well together.
I currently have a 300 & 325 pumpkin. If they are useable, that would be great...if not, then it's on to something like a 355.
So, anyone out there with experiences with this type system ( EFI, OD, rear end? Thanks, Fred
