A couple of weeks back, we had a thread about maybe having some sort of SRS Nationals show for all of the members. Us SRS staffers met yesterday for our annual company meeting and talked about all sorts of things: where we were, where we're headed, goals, etc. We talked a good bit about trying to organize a show and after realizing how busy we are and how much busier we're about to get (new babies for myself and Rob, site redesign, trying to stay on top of orders, etc), we don't feel that we will have the time to put towards organizing a show.
Having said that, I know that lots of members are eager to have a get-together (maybe several throughout the country) and we would encourage you to set something up as a group. Perhaps a couple of people would like to volunteer to help organize things. If Ohio is picked as a good place, I know that we would be happy to join up with everyone.
We feel bad that we can't dedicate more of our resources to help make this happen, but with so many things on our plate we wouldn't want to attempt it if we couldn't do it well.
Let us know what you guys and gals think. Again, we're all for having a show, but we'd need someone else to pick up the torch to make it a reality.
Thanks,
Jason

Jason,
Do you guys have any Krispy Kreme donut shops in you area?
LOL
We just need to put our heads together and decide on a place, then put together the details.
Alright everyone, throw out your ideas. Are there any parks we could reserve for a day? I said it before, and here again, holding this at a GG's or NSRA show won't work very well, unless we can talk them into roping an area of just for us. And, that's asking alot. It's too hard to coordinate at a packed show, with so much going on.

Hey Bob, think we can swing a East Coast Shin-Dig around here somewhere? Ft. Smallwood Park in Pasadena? Big M Restaurant & Movie Theater (and probably the field next door if we need it for room.
I'll try and get a hold of Bob that runs Big M and see what the deal is, and in the meantime try to track down Charlie (dual quads here @ SRS) from Vintage Tin and see how we can get (if possible) Ft. Smallwood...they pack 850+ in the park for their show, we can surely pack the house for ours...Ya got your ears on Charlie?
I'll E-Mail ya with some ideas, Bob and we'll go from there and make this thing happen...East Coast style!!

Thought I'd throw out ny 2ยข and try something that is more geographically centered like Speedway Motors in Lincoln Nebraska. I could get up that far since I already made it once albeit in a Ford Van when I picked up the Roadster parts. It looks like from the pics of the new place, they would have a lot of room and their engine museum is something to behold!! The kids would love the pedal car museum if ya could keep them off lol....bet we could get the cooks tour like I got and be amazed at the parts warehouse!!! (drool!) The maching facility is a blast too. Another amazing place there, Is Bill Smiths office!! Ya gotta see it to believe it! Flathead parts totally covering the walls and there was even a midget racer parked in there too!! Bet they would be receptive to a group of rodders meeting there for the weekend or at least a Saturday. If I sound excited about the place, excuse me, but I was blown over by the whole thing!!

I forgot to mention - for anyone putting together a show that we won't be able to attend, we would be happy to send you our SRS banner to display (as seen above). Just let us know and we'll get it to you and then you can just send it back when you're done.

SEND IT, AND WE WILL COME ....near as I can figure on the West Coast here a meet at the Apple Run in Wenatchee Wa would be an easier commute for "most" of us here on the West Coast, unless anyone else out here has a better idea,EH, NoMoBux?

I am all for that, Johnny! Maybe since there are so many members we could have several get togethers around the US. That way all the members would have a chance to go to one of the events.

JW, I'm very interested in information on a show at Cherokee. I was really disapointed when they announced the Southern Rodder show wouldn't be there this year. There was 8 of us that convoyed to the last one. Best dang place I've ever been to for a show. Please send information so I can make reservations.
Thanks

Hey Lynn, must have missed you at the cherokee show. It was a huge letdown when they said that was it. If Johnny gets something going this year we will have to have a meeting place and time for all the srs members.

I too was somewhat surprised at a last minute decision to announce the end.
Apparently the good Cherokees wanted more money for the experience so I am told by the man. All the business owners that I talked to really where overwhelmed with business.
I for one will NOT be treking to eastern Tennessee to go to the Bristol show even tho I think it will be a great venue for the event. More room, but less to do! That could hurt?
If JW gets an event up there.......count me in!

I'm less than 1hr. south of the Atlanta airport off interstate 85. If there are even a few on this site who could make it for a day I'd put something together. We do have indoor plumbing & running water! Would be happy to fire up the grill. We could watch for an early warm weekend before the season starts. Anyone up for it? Skip

I would suggest SEVERAL - REGIONAL EVENTS ... with SRS MEMBERS doing the organizing ... "coat-tailing" an existing , major , event has it's advantages ... especially if they allow you to register as a CLUB , parking is usually set aside if you pay/promise a count on cars.

Don, we do get together at existing shows when we can. This is a signature board we kept last summer for GoodGuys Indy, Louisville, Bonneville and Kalamazoo for three different boards. Not everybody that was at those events signed it, but those that stopped by did. I'd bet that there will be even more of us get together next summer. It's hard to get everyone going in the same direction so when our paths cross we try to make a point of at least meeting. Some of us hang out together quite a bit.

How 'bout Springfield,Mo? Steak-N-Shake cruise-in every first saturday of the month,(always a big turn out), NSRA Mid-America Nats May 23,24, & 25? (2000+ entries every year).
During the NSRA show, the Rogersville, Mo. 1/4 mile dragstrip gives discounts for spectators and entrants who are part of the NSRA show that saturday night.
I've got 6 acres of mowed grass, a barn for a handful of cars if the weather gets nasty, you can camp here if you like, one extra bedroom, pool table, bar, indoor plumbing, outdoor plumbing, a big BBQ grille, an outdoor clawfoot bathtub we use to ice down the beer/pop when we have parties.
There's plenty to do around here, Bass Pro, Branson, lots of hotels too which I can help you with.
Say the word.
(we're gonna have a party anyway, so you might as well come.)
I realize it's too far for many of you on the coasts, but you're all welcome. We'll be here!
