Disappointments............
by slick

From time to time,we all get to have one or two. I guess it is my turn in the barrel. I know there are more than a few folks here, that are looking forward to seeing SKR8PN make it's debut at Detroit this year. I hate to have to announce, that it is not going to be completed in time for the show.
We tried. Really hard. But sometimes other things step in the way to slow down the progress,no matter what you do,or how hard you try.I won't go into all the details, but we have decided to step back, take a deep breath, and then, press on.The work continues and the truck will be completed soon. There is no sense pushing to get it done, and in the process, take a shortcut or two that we would regret later. I would like to thank each and every one of you for all the help and support you have shown since I have been here. You are all very much a part of this truck. Deb and I will be at COBO looking for folks from SRS and we are hoping to meet a few of you. Thanks very much.

Grant, as far as "new" debut date,we are going to play it one day at a time. Deb and I have our heart set on Detroit for a debut. You can imagine the frustration of wanting that, and at the same time knowing it is probably going to be done in time to start the cruising season........ Being car folks, you understand how difficult it would be,to spend 4 years finishing a car, and then put it in storage for 8 or 9 months waiting for a show. AARRRRRRRRGGG!!!! Thats like dangling the carrot in front of the donkey, and then not letting him have it at the end of the day!! Might as well just shoot me now and get it over with......

Bummer that you won't make the Autorama but...Sometimes life throws us a curve!I agree with the "Step back and take a deep breath" approach...you will end up with a much better truck in the end.Look forward to seeing you in Detroit if I can get all my ducks in a row by then!

Sorry to hear that bud, There's no reason to rush it, there's plent of show's to make a debute. It wont be much fun if youre rushing to get it done, it'll turn into work instead of a fun hobby. Look forward to seeing you at Cobo.

One of our members here has a signature that says something like "life is what happens when you're making other plans." You're right, don't rush it.

I was so sorry to hear. I can imagine it's a huge disappointment for all involved. I guess now everyone can take a deep breath and relax knowing you've got a full 12 months which will enable you to keep the truck on the same path without taking any shortcuts. I look forward to finally meeting both you and Deb in person next month. Look at the bright side, going as spectators first will give you a feel for the show, what to except, make a few contacts, etc. We'll have a great time on Sat hanging out (no show stress) and you guys will love greektown for dinner. Chin up bud :)))

Jim, I am sorry to hear that. And what a BIG carrot that would be!! I am however glad that you and Deb are still planning on attending the show. I look forward to meeting you.
By the way, has anyone noticed how many of you have wives or girlfriends whose names are Deb!!!! Just an observation, lol

Jim I know your bummed out not getting it done in time. But it's better to do it right the frist time. Taking short cuts, is where people get into troubles.

When it's all said and done, you'll be glad on what you did.

Jim, I know how diappointing it is to have your plans sidelined, I've had our 40 since 1976 and am now just tearing it down for roddin. Kids and family matters come first. I'm sure glad you chose not to rush the project, if your luck is like mine it would be a disaster. I was hoping to have our 40 to where it would be safe enough to drive to BTTF in June but things keep popping up around here to so I may have to extend it's debut too. Just keep up the good work and it'll be ready in no time!! Bill and Gail
