Ford engine, production or just for Bobcat?

Hello. I have a 722 Bobcat that has a Ford 4 cyl. engine. It is a 98 CI engine. The engine code for Bobcat is 14-98.
It is water cooled. Carborated. It was built from 1976 to 1979. I put a rod threw the block today. I need to know if there is a possibility of an engine out there that will work for me, or if I am stuck trying to get one from a Bobcat dealer.
Thanks
Homer

The Bobcat was Mercury's version of the Pinto.
With a little more soundproofing insulation and perhaps a few added pieces of trim.

What you may want to do is get a Pinto 2000-2300cc engine - 2000cc = 120 cid.
Check on the trans used on the Bobcat.
If it's a stick it may be the same as the one on the Pinto 2000-2300cc engines.

The whole thing should be a total bolt-in provided you get all the mounts and other small parts - throttle linkages etc.

It's a step up in performance over the 1600cc engines.
The 1600's also came in the Pinto's, but I'd say that the 2000cc engines were the more common ones.
Not to mention more trouble-free.

I think your talking about a skid loader! If so you are looking for a bobcat only I think! A friend has one and blew the motor in it he ended up trading because it was cheaper!!

This 98 cid engine was used in 71 - 74 pinto and 78 - 80 ford fiesta. The engine will interchange with the bobcat loader if you change the intake, carb. ect. If you change heads watch for different cc's because of flat top vs dish pistons. good luck.,
