All it needs is a snow plow on the front!

I usually don't go for the 4X4 mods, but this one looks pretty good. Someone in this area has a 57 Caddy 4X4, but it's not fixed up nice like the Ford.

That '39 needs something else, either a LOT of mud on the body, or to be photographed OFFROAD and flexed out so we can see how well the suspension works...(see pics on my pages for examples).
What's the point in doing all that work for a 4WD chassis swap if it never sees any dirt?
Oh, and the leather interior was a big waste of money, unless the owner plans to spend MORE money for seatcovers and some of those big plastic floormats that hold like a quart of filthy water off the carpet on each side...

Hey Doc, do you think that 99% of the SUV's (suburban useless vehicles) ever see off road? The most off road that they see is if the owner drives into the yard to give a wash job.
And, hey, how about those SUT's that Caddy and Lincoln built? What a laugh! Carpeting in the truck box. LOL. Don't want to scratch those golf clubs. Where is it going to end?

My point is just that if somebody is going to all the effort, they might as well use it the way it was intended by converting it to 4WD.
I drive mine every day. I beat the crap out of it on the trails. I take it to streetrod shows, I wheel it at the Badlands in Attica, IN. I've had to remove the seats and hit them with the pressure washer to get rid of the mud that got in thru the open door windows. I hose out the interior. I almost have enough spares to build a clone. CD players do not like to eat mud. My new bedfloor is expanded metal, it cleans easier.
Last year at K-zoo I talked with another guy who had a pretty nice 4x4 conversion, and he remembered seeing mine there. His was all show. Tire dressing on the mudders and all. Mine proudly wears it's tree branch scratches, dents, and mud, most times I look to get it filthy before a show to prove it is actually used as I intended. I can tell people exactly when and where it got every bit of body damage. It stays in black primer cause it's easy to respray when the rust comes back too bad.
Late model SUV's, Feh! Waste of money, and more a status symbol than anything.
I think mine is a better status symbol, it says "Look at what I can do at home without major cash outlay (I have 3 kids, all school-age) and it works as hard as it looks..."
The latemodel POS-UV's are not my cup of tea. I can work on them, but I don't have to like them to fix them...
And there are a few around here who actually do have the dents, scratches, and mud caked underneath that come to my work for stuff like oil changes. I give the owners a bit more respect than the average customer...

gee, I hope that there aren't any suv yuppies reading your reply, doc. they would probably drop their bottles of Pear-rear-air and faint; to think that you would actually get your suv DIRTY!!
I once went with a woman from Kenilworth, IL (north of chicago); real ritzy place. I stopped at a stop sign one day and 8 4x4's went by, no other kind of car. What a joke. I wonder how many actually knew how to put them in 4WD. LOL.

Actually, I kinda wonder about the typical rodder's reaction to seeing my '28 at a show...
The typical SUV owner, IMO, is also likely to drink Evian spring water.
Spell Evian backwards...
I rest my case. {8^D

I have a 52 GMC mounted to a jimmy chassis, 36" tire and 12" bodylift and 6" axle, you can usually see me in the passing lane, runn'n with those dam imports runs and handles like a dream and then there is sunday when I like to take it out either to a show or out in the back forty or mud or swamp, and I didn't tell you there's 6000 bucks for a viper red with flames in pearls and cleared paint job, this is my daily driver.
I didn't think it was for me at first but I'm having a blast with this thing, people are amazed at the height of this truck where ever I go
I used to drive a pro street 41 Dodge so you can see it was a big step (lol) take care and happy holidays

Ken, I'm not a real big fan of 4x4s, (tho I had a nice Power Wagon a few years back and had lot's of fun with it) I do like that Jimmy and the flame job tho. But if I had my druthers I'd opt for that super slick flamed 41 Plymouth!
