Just installed XM Radio in my 36 Dodge .. Great sound 100+ channels of commerical free music. The unit is able to switch between my other rods & home. Not a bad service for 10.95 a month.

sounds good, my wife had to twist my arm to get me to install an FM/CD player in the 46. I'd rather listen to the engine rumble and the tires spinning on the pavement myself.

Motor sound is awesome but lets be honest music is great when you are driving over 10 hours to go to a Nats.

let's start a pool to see how long before they start with the commercials, just like cable started out.

I don't think all of it is commercial free - from their "how it works" page, "including many commercial-free channels". I looked breifly at the channel lineups and about half of what I looked at had commercials.

So what are the advantages of this new XM commerical free radio ? A over the road driver might be able to use it, if he can turn off the CB long enough. You still have to listen to whatever the DJ wants to play and pay for some one elses choice in music. Call me old fashioned but when I run out of radio range I either find a new station or grab a CD and go from there. I probably have about 10 home burned CD's that hold alot of my favorite songs from the past and present, I never seem to run out of music I want to hear even when camped out 3 days over a hundred miles from the a..hole of nowhere and still 2 coolers worth of brew to go. I'am not trying to rain on your parade, just trying to understand the reason for this radio service.

Say Al...doesn't that system need that silly looking antenna that you can only put on your roof line? How did you get around that? I had considered one of those systems but...?????

The antenna roughly the size of one and a half golf balls set end-to-end, the AN-XM100 is a low profile design antenna that mounts to your vehicle's roof or trunk lid via its magnetic base
