Bolt pattern

Will I usually be able to get a 5 on 5 bolt pattern on front disc rotors that come with a typical rolling chassis?
This is for front straight axle/ early ford spindles (37-41)set up. I have wheels I want to use that have this pattern. I assume it won't be an issue on the 9" Ford axles on the rear.

If you are ordering a rolling chassis, Just ask for the bolt pattern you want.

The only issue will be that the front wheel pattern does not match the rear wheel pattern. This means 2 spares if you travel any at all. Not really a good idea.

Most builders and rodders too also use the same pattern on both ends. Just a thought!

I intend to use the same bolt pattern front and rear so the spare will be the same pattern, if I have any room for a spare. I really just wanted to know if 5on5 is an uncommon pattern and end up having problems getting rotors for them.

The 5 on 5 pattern is fairly uncommon on street rods. Most have the 4.5 on 5 pattern ( Ford passenger ) or the GM mid size pattern ......4.75 on 5.

I use the 5 on 5 and 1/2 bolt pattern on both of my street rods. It is commonly refered to as the Ford pickup pattern because it was very common in early Fords (40 to 48) and Ford pickups (until just a few years ago).

The 5 on 5 pattern is more of a big GM (Buick, Olds, Cadillac, and GM pickup pattern). It is kind of rare on 9" Ford rears without drilling the axles.

I went with the 5 on 4.5 (Mopar) Wilwood only offered 5 on 4.5 or 5 on 4.75 patterns when I bought mine. AS a side note,I am not going to be carrying a spare in my truck. I have an air compressor for the Air Ride, and a small tire repair kit that I plan on taking along.Don't know if that's being brave or stupid!

As long as ya got Fix-A-Flat and or GOOD tire plugs your good to go. About 9 years ago while heading to a show we were following my uncle in his '39 Chevy when he ran over a pretty good size roofing nail (pretty thick so it left a nice little hole). Filled it with Fix a Flat and plugged it. Unc's dead and gone for 7 going on 8 years now and the plug still holds....probably seriously unsafe, but my aunt dont take it out much. Says she's gonna hit some shows with me this coming year so we'll have to get it fixed right before hand.

Just a little insight on how darn tough these plugs seem to be.

I carry 2 bottles and a 3rd hidden one... the first is "Fix-a-Flat", second is a fire extinguisher, and the hidden one is for me sometimes medically speaking!! lol

I have a Hollander and am aware that the 5 on 5" pattern came on a few FOMOCO rears but you have to admit that they are rarely used on street rods and the donor vechicles (except the 55-60 Mercury) stock axle widths are mostly too wide for anything that came with a straight axle front end.

My impression is that any bolt pattern for a 9" rear end axle can probably be special ordered.(cost ?)I beleive the ones I have ('57)can't be shortened because they are tapered. Seems I read this somewhere. As for front rotors, this may be a problem...not sure. Using drums up front may be possible if I can adapt the backing plates to the early spindles.
