paint question

Although it's not automotive paint, I thought you guys might be able to help. I've been painting the inside of my house. Just finsihed up the back door, small bath door and trim around the area. Even though I had a drop cloth down, paint must have seeped threw. I know, don't say it, I'm sloppy. :D It's a water based enamal and it got on the carpet. Any ideas on how to get it out without runining the carpet? Paint thinner? or turpintine? Or maybe thoughs two are the same thing? I think I have both in the basement. Any suggestions before my 30 guests get here at 7pm??

give a quick call to a paint store or painter. They should be able to help. I wouldn't try anything till then. If ya use the wrong stuff .. sometimes it reacts to the paint and makes it MUCH worse...good luck and merry xmas to ya

Good idea, I'll call right now. Why didn't I think of that! LOL

Mike, the paint if dry already, I finished the painting late last night and just left everything there for cleanup this morning cuz I didn't want to pull the dropcloth out from under the door while it was wet and mess up the door. It did come out great except for the carpet! LOL

If the spots don't come out, you can paint the rest of the carpet to match :-)

Merry Christmas!

Soak it with water, use a firm brush to break up the paint. If that won't work try "Goof Off" but test it somewhere, sometimes it will pull the color. Use as little as you can. Don't use sheets for drops. (just a guess).

GoJo hand cleaner works pretty good if it's not totally dry. If it's dry, look for a product called Oops. It got old latex paint off that had been on our trim for over 10 years. Took a little rubbing, but it worked.

Kewl...it says right on the can of OOPS that it's latex paint remover. I've used it for everything but latex paint. It also says that it's got ethyl alcohol, naptha, xylene and toluene in it, so George, don't be adding it to your stash of moonshine...it might react violently. LOL.

You know, I never thought, but maybe moonshine would get that paint out....naaaww....it'd be a waste of perfectly good sippin' whiskey.

Sometimes this will work and sometimes not for larger spots. Hold an ice cube against the dried paint for a few minutes. The idea is that it will make ithe paint brittle, take a pair of pliers and squeeze the paint drops. The opps that the other members will usually work well also. Use a stiff bristle brush.
