I bought a 1950 ford f1 pickup that I have been looking at for the past 3 years on saturday. I am excited about rodding again! The truck is completely original and doesn't need alot of work. It has the original flathead v8 and 3 speed tranny. I will put a 350 motor and a 700r4 tranny with mustang II front with power steering.

Neat old truck.....
I had a red 48 back in the late 60's. SBC with a Muncie 4 speed. 12 Volt. Most everything else stock.
Had a lot of fun in it !
Good luck with the 50....

Heres the scoop! I worked in law enforcement for 2 years before I came to the county I am in now, which is where the truck was located. I saw the truck about 1 year after I began working this county. I didn't stop for the simple yet overrated reason that if it was still there it must not be for sale. Just goes to show never pass one by without asking about it. It is an original NC truck with, counting me, 3 owners. Thanks for updating the pic, looks alot better. I have been toying with the idea of a mustang engine and drive train, but hard to let go of that chevy thing. Time will tell and I will keep all of you posted.

Not much less. People are selling the 392`s like they are gold. If he did score one, It would be one hell of a truck.

Adam, great looking truck, put whatever engine/trans combo in it that floats your boat. :)

Hey that's great. It's always easier to get rolling on a project when your excited about it.
As far as powertrain, I always decide by what's laying around in my garage first, the flathead would be pretty nice but your combo sounds great for a real driver.

I am going to leave the inside and out original. I like the chrome and imblems. I believe I will put in a stainless grille. I am going to lower the truck and use torq-thrust wheels. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions and I will keep you posted with info and pics.

Hi Adam! The truck looks great! ... and solid. Remember that you are building the truck for you, not anyone else. Build it the way you want with the drivetrain you want, just keep safety and reliability a priority. Decide what you want and stick to the plan. That will make YOU happy, and that's what its all about! Happy buildin'! :) rj

I recently Installed a 79 camaro clip, 330HP 350 crate motor, 700r4, tilt column, power brake booster, PRC radiator and Heat/AC unit in a buddies 50 Ford truck. Runs and rides like a dream, Stops too! I have heard that the MustII is a little light for this truck and if im not mistaken heidts doesnt sell a kit for it. If you are interested i could send you a few inprogress pics.

The pics mainly deal with the camaro clip so no use sending them. I used a OLD AIR hurricane heat/ac unit. It closely resembles the factory heater box and does a great job heating and cooling the truck. I have the same unit in my 39 chevy coupe and it works great too. I'll see if i can dig up a pic of it and send it.

Where can I get one of those units? Is it in a catalog so I can look at it?
Just got the heidts crossmember welded in last night. It went very good in my opinion, and I liked the kit. Has anyone got any pros or cons stories and their crossmember installation?

This should be good! LOL
Search the archives here, the function works. Remember the opinions you will read are just that, opinions. Probley best if you half a couple hours to spend on reading everything that has been posted by not only here but the RRT and HAMB as well. I believe all the links are in the thread. Good luck :))
