I have a 55 that I am planning to build and was wondering if I could get a little input on installing a front end under it to carry a 502 crate engine. Can anyone give advice on a good way to do a front end that would work..I am pretty front end dumb and would appreciate any input. I have seen several 55-57's that actually use the original front ends but the owners tell me that they sway when taking corners. I would also like to use a rack and pinion set up. Also...how is it installing a big block in a 55?? Any takers? Thanks

The best way is to put the big block in the rear and keep the weight off the front end LOL.

No really I prefer the old gasser look so I have used a straight axle on all the '55s I have built Most of the guys I know have used the stock front end and replace all the rubber with Polygraphite and some add a sway bar.

A good source for anything '55 Chebby would be www.chevytalk.com go to the Modified tri 5s forum
