Joining the middle aged crowd today...
by ag_chevy
Posted: 06/16/2003 10:16 EST

Well, I turned 40 today. Now that I've officially hit middle age, am I supposed to have some sort of crisis where I go out and get a flashy car or something to reaffirm my masculinity?

Oh wait...I already have one. Life is good! :-)

Well, you could go get yourself a 19 year old girlfriend.
I never understood that. Seems that would just prove you're not 19 anymore! hehe
Happy Birthday Alan!

Congratulations. The way I looked at turning 40 was, so what? I'm a lot smarter than I was when I was 30! I never understood the age crisis thing. Maybe I'm just "well-adjusted."

Well, now that your forty year warranty is over, hopefully you have the ten year extension!! After that, you'll find yourself falling apart like a cheap suit... Golden years, indeed!

Some things you will start to notice:
The numbers on your wrenches and sockets gettiing harder to read.
Waking up a little sore after working on your car.
Takes a little longer to recover from an "all night party".
Reading your favorite rod magazine at arms length.
Your favorite foods and your body do not agree.
Highway Patrol officers seem to get younger and younger!

There are many more "little things" you will start to notice, but all in all... Ain't life grand?

I just ran another Marathon (Yea, the whole 26.2 miles of it) when I was 40...And another one 6 years after that!

You're still a kid if you wanna be!

(I turned the double nickle last thursday, and blonde wife is quite a bit younger than you.)

In Canada its very easy to tell when your over 40 in the summertime or wintertime. In the the summertime you want to exchange your 40 year old wife for two 20 year olds. In the wintertime when heading from the house to the garage you first have to turn around and go back into the house to take a leak. You dont even want to know what the 50 year olds here tell me to expect!

Thanks, guys. Had a nice relaxing day off around the house. Tonight we went to a club garage tour at a member's house with a '54 Chevy pickup. Good weather for a cruise, too.

Alan,
The first 40 is spent pushing that rock up the hill.....the next 40 you watch it roll uncontrolably down the other side.
Hope you had a great B-Day.

I've heard that once you're over the hill you start to pick up speed. That could be a good thing, as I'm an incredible procrastinator right now. :-)

"I've heard that once you're over the hill you start to pick up speed." Alan, your brakes won't slow you down anymore. The old saying used to be 'I wish the world would stop and let me off.' Well...it's going to fast nowdays to jump off without a safety net...LOL.
