I can get glass or steel running boards for my 35 Chevy. What are the Pros and Cons of each?

'Glass....possible cracking after some drive time - Steel......strong as an Ox

Steel....heavier -
'Glass....lightweight..obviously

Steel - A little hefty on the price tag possibly? Unless your at the right place at the right time...
Glass - Fair priced..

If you gor glass fenders i would go with glass running boards. from the same company of the fenders. If you have steel running boards then i'd go with steel running boards. of course steel is stronger. and i wouldn't be affraid of stepping on them as i would glass.

I have steel front fenders, but I don't have rear fenders, so I'll have to get glass. Would it look funny to have steel front fenders, running boards and glass rear fenders?

Once ya paint 'em theres no difference. The only way to tell would be knock on 'em.

I have glass rear fenders on the 35 and steel running boards and front fenders..it looks just fine. The only thing I would reccomend is to undercoat the rears to prevent stone damage, I have not done this and have had no problems but it would be a safety measure you might want to think about..just my $.02 worth. I'll have to agree, once you paint the glass fenders and running boards, most can't tell the differeance.

Are both of those deliveries yours? They both look very nice.

I hope someday to finish my 35 and hopefully it will turn out nice.....It seems like sometimes while in the middle of a project you can't quite see the end of the tunnel, but then out of the blue one day you make enough progress where you feel like your getting close. I'm still in the "overwhelmed" part of my project and I have no idea when I could be done.

I ordered steel running boards and all of the braces, brackets and body panels that I don't have(fender braces, core support, inner fenders, rear fenders, gas tank apron, body mounts, running boards and running board brackets). That was expensive, I spent about $1500 on all of those parts! When I get all of the parts I will be able to put the body together and get everything lined up(at least in the ballpark).

I still need to get a hood. I was thinking of getting one of those rootlieb 1 piece hoods and leaving the sides open...That way everyone can see the LS1 in there!

And with that, I say Welcome to the Wonderful World of StreetRodding my boy! lol....When your neck deep, ya never see the end....In anything!

No- I have the red one and a friend of mine from NC has the green one. His is "streched" 5" in the hood area to fit the 5.0 motor. As far as "finishing" a ride...I think it's like an ongoing project-NEVER DONE. It just keeps us entertained until we find something new to undertake as a project.

You're right on the "never done" part! There is always something to do on my 69 camaro.

It will be nice once I figure out/fabricate all of the mounting points for the body, fenders, etc. I have no clue how everything bolts together.....I think that I'll feel a lot better once I figure all of that out and I have it at least to the trial fit stage. Then I can install the rear axle, engine and tranny!!
